Retail trade in Estonia last month was 4% more modest at comparable prices than last March, according to data from the National Statistics Office.

During the year, trade in food products increased by 1%, non-food products, excluding fuel, decreased by 9%, fuel decreased by 2%.

Total retail sales rose 15% month-on-month (March vs. February), but rose only 1% on a seasonally and weekday-adjusted basis.

In the first quarter of the year, compared to the same period last year, retail sales in the country shrank by 5%.

At that time, in March, retail trade growth was recorded in Latvia after a 12-month period of decline. In March, compared to the same month of the previous year, trade increased by 2.8% at comparable prices, according to the National Statistics Office.

Trade in food products grew by 5%, non-food products excluding fuel – contracted by 1.7%, and fuel – increased by 11.9%.

Turnover of retail trade companies in Lithuania (without VAT) in 2024 in March amounted to 1.58 billion EUR at the prices of that time and compared to 2023. in March, after removing the influence of the number of working days, it increased by 5.6% at comparable prices, according to the data of the State Data Agency.

During the year, the turnover of companies selling food products in Lithuania increased by 6.3% at comparable prices, those selling non-food products – 5.1%, and the turnover of companies selling car fuel retail – 5%. In March, compared to February, the turnover of retail trade companies increased by 1.2%.
