“Red Thread Theory”: Designers say it

--

Designers say that it is generally difficult to create a sense of unity in the interior of an entire house or apartment. However, it is quite possible if you use a principle called “red string theory”.

The “Red Thread Theory” is a basic concept that applies to all home designs. In other words, it is simply an idea that helps facilitate the process of arranging rooms so that homeowners can create a harmonious interior in terms of colors and materials.

What is the “red thread theory”?

This design principle actually has nothing to do with the color red. Its essence is to choose one or more design elements and repeat them in every room of your home.

Home interiors and trends

The “Red Thread Theory” is popular in Scandinavian countries, where the idea of integrity in design is most valued. For example, each room can have different colors but a repeating pattern and furniture of the same shape. You can place plants or hang pictures in all rooms – this will also visually unify the space. In other words, you first need to discover your “red thread” and then use it in every room.

An example of using one color: blue walls in the bedroom, blue wall lights in the living room, dark blue cabinets in the kitchen and a bright blue accent ceiling in the hallway.
