A network of bicycle and pedestrian paths is being expanded in Alytus


On Monday, Alytus City Municipality Administration Director Gintaras Rakaitis and Construction Department specialists met with UAB “CityForm LT” designers (together with partner MB 4infra.LT). The design work on pedestrian and bicycle paths from Kreivosios st. was discussed. to the Millennium bridge and from Šlaito st. until the construction of the Piliakalnis site.

During the meeting, the contract terms and stages of the project preparation works, which are expected to be completed within 7 months, were discussed.

Preparation of topographical plans will soon begin, designers will provide initial solutions for the paths.

Alytis residents and city guests will be able to admire the view of the Nemunas while walking or driving along the new paths.

The construction works of UAB Daugesta from Kreivosios st. are coming to an end. to Šlaito St.

The bicycle and pedestrian path will be decorated with new elements of small architecture – lamps, fences, benches.

The design procedures for the continuation of this pedestrian and bicycle path – climbing on the White Rose Bridge and embankment are also being purchased.

Ramps will be installed in order to adapt the space to people with disabilities and parents and their babies in strollers.

Currently, there are about 40 km of bicycle paths in Alytus and their network is being expanded. Both sides of the Nemunas coast, from the White Rose to the Millennium Bridges, will be connected by a bicycle and pedestrian path.

The works are financed from the funds of the European Union.
