Bengts Carlberg, a bioengineer from Sweden, has been appointed as the head of the production of Klaipėda-based biotechnologies UAB “Memel Biotech”.

B. Carlberg will be responsible for biotech product manufacturing, maintenance, process management, as well as coordination of quantitative and qualitative results and maintenance of equipment and systems, the company reports.

Before moving to Lithuania, B. Carlberg managed the production of Procella Therapeutics, an umbrella company of Sweden-based company Smartcella, for 4 years. It is a leading biotechnology company in the field of cutting-edge cell and gene therapy.

Before that, he worked in Sweden at the biopharmaceutical company Swedish Orphan Biovitrum, where he was responsible for the production of recombinant protein products, quality processes and drug development.

B. Carlberg is educated in mathematics, biotechnology, life sciences and chemistry at the Swedish Royal Institute of Biotechnology (KTH).

B. Carlberg started working as production manager at Memel Biotech in April of this year.
