The next-generation Opel Grandland is a big step forward in making electric cars even more attractive to consumers. It is the brand’s first model built on the new STLA Medium BEV electric vehicle platform used by the Stellantis Group.

The new architecture of the car allows to install a battery with a capacity of up to 98 kWh. Together with a new generation electric motor and an energy-saving heat pump, it enables the electric Grandland to travel up to approximately 700 kilometers on a single charge (according to the WLTP methodology).

The manufacturer also made sure that the stops to recharge the energy did not last long. At a public fast charging station, the battery is up to 80 percent. capacity is charged in just 26 minutes.

Will install smart LED lights

New design foundations have given designers the freedom to embody new ideas, so the impressive stance of the new Grandland is evident at first glance. The length of the model is 4650 mm, the width is 1905 mm, and the height is 1660 mm.

Grandland gives grandeur to the SUV with the latest interpretation of design elements characteristic of Opel models – the front part of the body resembling a massive three-dimensional figure, which the manufacturer calls “3D Vizor”. This body element harmonizes harmoniously with the illuminated Opel lightning logo integrated into it. Edge Light technology helps make it stand out even more.

The new illuminated logo is complemented by another lighting innovation developed by Rüsselsheim engineers – one of the most advanced Intelli-Lux Pixel Matrix HD matrix LED lights in the industry. This system, a first for the manufacturer, consists of 51,200 high-resolution light distribution elements.

Based on the traffic situation and oncoming objects detected by the video camera, the Intelli-Lux Pixel Matrix HD headlights turn off segments of the light stream that could blind oncoming drivers while they are being passed. The new technology allows this action to be performed even more precisely than standard Matrix Light lights. As a much brighter and more uniform light pattern is created, other road users are not dazzled, and the Grandland driver always sees a well-lit road.

A long, 2784 mm wheelbase and a steep tailgate emphasize the spaciousness of the cabin and trunk. The rear seats can be folded in a 40:20:40 ratio, so the cargo capacity can reach up to 1641 liters.

Seats that have been evaluated by traumatologists

Even bolder and more refined interior elements of Grandland create a warm and cozy atmosphere. From an architectural point of view, the arrangement of interior elements emphasizes the theme of horizontality: the lines extending from the dashboard to the doors reinforce the sense of spaciousness, while the 16-inch diagonal central screen and tall central console, slightly turned towards the driver, give the impression of sportiness.

Behind the steering wheel, the wide, elegant all-digital instrument panel provides essential information, allowing the driver to focus on driving pleasure, while the Intelli-HUD projection screen does not require taking eyes off the road.

Continuing the long-standing tradition, the cabin is equipped with ergonomic, AGR-certified seats that have earned an excellent reputation and have been evaluated by many awards. AGR is coded as Aktion Gesunder Rücken e. V.” (German: “Healthy Backs Campaign”). With this campaign, the organization, which unites German traumatologists and specialists in other medical fields, aims to encourage the production of products that are more health-friendly.

In the latest generation of seats, the manufacturer introduces another comfort function: electrically controlled side supports. This feature greatly improves the lateral comfort adjustment thanks to the two pneumatic pockets located in the side bolsters of the seat back. The driver’s seat can also have massage and ventilation functions, and all the materials in the interior are recycled.

Will offer Opel Grandland hybrid

For drivers who prefer other gears, Grandland manufacturers will also have something to offer from the range of electrified power systems with internal combustion engines. The new plug-in hybrid Grandland Plug-in Hybrid can drive up to 85 km (according to WLTP) without emissions in electric mode, and the Grandland Hybrid with a 48-volt partial hybrid system not only provides great driving pleasure, but also allows you to reduce fuel consumption costs and CO2 emissions.

The pleasure of dynamic and comfortable driving is ensured by shock absorbers with selective frequency damping technology. This unique technology creates a second hydraulic circuit in the damper valve chamber: it mechanically adapts the required damping force according to the frequency.

Depending on the road surface conditions and driving style, this system helps to extract different damping characteristics to ensure a comfortable ride over bumps that cause high-frequency vibrations, such as bumps that cause short bumps, well covers, etc. This technology also makes for a great dynamic driving experience, as it provides better direct contact with the road in low-frequency vibrations.

Among the other benefits of the top-of-the-line SUV model in Opel’s range is a wide range of driver assistance systems, including automatic cruise control with Stop & Go function, advanced road sign recognition, intelligent speed adaptation and collision braking system. The latter helps to avoid an additional collision if an accident occurs. All these systems are already installed in the basic equipment of the model.

Additionally, the Intelli-Drive 2.0 system can be ordered, which integrates a number of electronic assistants, including automatic lane change assistance and the recommended speed adaptation function. As soon as the selected lane becomes free, the assistant directs the Grandland to the desired location with small steering movements. If the driver approves, the recommended speed adaptation assistant reduces or increases the car’s speed when reaching or leaving speed limit zones.

Together with the sensors, Intelli-Drive 2.0 uses information from a wireless Internet network. Parking and maneuvering are also made easier by front and rear parking pilots, a rearview camera with automatic wipe function and a 360-degree Intelli-Vision camera.
