In order to contribute sustainably and efficiently to the world’s food production, self-propelled sprayer manufacturer Agrifac announces its latest innovation that will contribute to the global movement for sustainable agriculture and reducing the carbon footprint. It has been announced that hydrogenated vegetable oil (HVO) will be able to be used in Agrifac self-propelled sprayers as an alternative to diesel.

Agrifac self-propelled sprayers help increase yields and reduce environmental damage, ensure grower safety and increased productivity. Sustainability plays an important role in the development of spraying technologies and the expansion of the range of reliable machines, which is why Agrifac has just announced another important innovation that will contribute to the reduction of pollution in agriculture.

Hydrogenated vegetable oil (HVO), extracted from 100% of renewable raw materials, is suitable for use in Agrifac sprayers as an alternative to diesel. Initial test and research results show that all Agrifac machines with Cummins engines are HVO compliant, a significant step towards sustainability.

HVO is changing sustainability and circular economy practices. On the one hand, it is a very efficient fuel alternative that can effectively replace diesel. On the other hand, it is a product synthesized from waste, which allows efficient and profitable waste management. The use of the product can reduce the carbon footprint by up to 90%, which significantly contributes to reducing emissions worldwide. HVO is plastic, so it mixes well with diesel. With stricter requirements and various financial incentives for sustainable choices, Agrifac’s commitment to alternative fuels will allow it to lead the way in responsible farming.

This progress is driven by Agrifac’s strong partnerships with industry. In close cooperation with Cummins, which builds Agrifac sprayer engines worldwide, extensive testing has resulted in one of the most fuel-efficient agricultural machines in the world. The long-term partnership will now continue with HVO.

At the same time, Agrifac has a new partnership with Dalhuisen, a major supplier of HVO in the Netherlands. Dalhuisen supplied the fuel for Agrifac’s trials, and after seeing the impressive results, the company awarded Agrifac the “Good Fuel CO2 Reduction” certificate.
