The long-awaited third generation “Volkswagen Tiguan” can already be purchased in Lithuania. One of the brand’s most successful models of all time offers not only diesel engines and gasoline engines with a mild hybrid system (eTSI), but also a plug-in hybrid powertrain (eHybrid). The new Tiguan plug-in hybrid has a range of up to 120 km (WLTP) in electric mode alone, and its battery can be charged at 50 kW fast charging (DC) stations. The new Tiguan comes with a range of powertrains, including a highly efficient 1.5-litre eTSI petrol engine with a 48-volt mild hybrid system. Depending on the version, this engine produces between 96 kW (130 hp) and 110 kW (150 hp). The innovative system provides additional traction and operates in electric mode under certain conditions. The optimally functioning mild hybrid system allows you to reduce fuel consumption by up to 0.5 l/100 km. The diesel engine range includes a 2-liter TDI SCR unit with 100 kW (150 hp) or 142 kW (193 hp). The more powerful version is installed together with the 4Motion all-wheel drive. Standard equipment includes a 19.7 kWh lithium-ion battery with a CCS combined charging port that can be used for both slow 11 kW (AC) and fast 50 kW (DC) charging. Most car and multimedia functions, such as steering wheel heating or air conditioning, can be conveniently adjusted using the new IDA voice control assistant.
Depending on the selected equipment package, it is possible to adjust the lumbar supports of the ergoActive front seats in four directions and to activate the massage function of the 10 pressure points of the pneumatic cushions. In addition, it is possible to choose automatic seat heating or ventilation – this function is activated depending on the ambient temperature. The mentioned equipment can usually be found only in models of the “premium” segment.
An abundance of auxiliary systems and rich standard equipment
All the most advanced comfort equipment and the most important auxiliary systems are included in the standard equipment. Along with other equipment, side change assist, autonomous emergency braking, lane change assist and a rear view camera are also offered. In addition, dynamic traffic sign recognition is implemented in all Tiguan models.
The new Tiguan is offered with various additional equipment. Park Assist Plus system and Park Assist with memory function at speeds below 40 km/h. at speed and covering a distance of up to 50 m remembers all the maneuvers of the car. Another innovation is the remote parking assistant Park Assist Pro. Using the Volkswagen app, this system allows you to maneuver the new Tiguan into and out of a parking space using your smartphone.
