“My friend at the time, jokingly or not, asked what I would like for my birthday, and I told her: I would like a dog for my birthday. And maybe at the same time I hoped, but at the same time I didn’t really believe that such a gift could appear, as a gift in general, because we looked at this matter responsibly enough and we are supporters of the fact that it might not be necessary to give dogs as gifts – neither on birthdays, nor on any other occasion.

Often the dogs that are given as gifts, especially as surprises, may be received really very warmly and very humbly at the beginning, and in the end you realize that you may not even be ready for such a responsibility because a dog is actually a living thing and it really becomes a family member for everyone “, says the performer.

Vaidas says that he loves dogs very much – he always greets everyone who passes by him, and the desire to have a pet has been burning for a long time. However, this is a huge responsibility that requires proper preparation. Therefore, when he unexpectedly received such a gift, he initially hesitated whether he was ready to raise Bee and give her as much attention as she would need.

“When she was really very small, very young, she had diarrhea constantly, so childish, maybe this topic is not the most delicious, not the most savory, but it is real and important, you should know that, it was even up to such statements at home that oh, my God , how I wish that dog just didn’t exist. But they happen in stressful moments, you really don’t have what you’re saying in mind, it’s more like some kind of emotional outburst.

I always wanted a dog, but my parents were hesitant, they were of such an opinion and perhaps such a slightly older upbringing that a dog simply cannot be in an apartment or a house – it must be in the countryside, where there is space, more freedom, where it can run around. But, as you know, the dog really adapts to the owner. Of course, there are certain more active dogs that need to be engaged with, but the house can be the smallest – the dog will adapt to sleep at your feet, under your arm, at your head, wherever it can, on the rug, on the towel, you just need to engage with the dog when you leave from the house, to play with him, to spend a lot of time so that the dog is really free and the house is a relaxation zone for him, where he will not want to roam around anymore”, says the singer.

Despite all the hesitations that arose during the first years of Bite’s life in Vaid’s house, today the performer is confident: “This dog brought really the most beautiful, best emotions into my life.” This, as he says, is one of the best things that could have happened in his life. The bee taught him many new lessons, one of them being a different approach to the winter period.

“I was an absolute denier of the winter time and I would rather be wrapped up in a blanket all winter somewhere, sleeping and being warm to myself, drinking tea or cocoa, but I finally realized that it is possible to go for a walk somewhere during the winter and really have fun.” When you see that a dog is completely in love with the snow and runs recklessly, digs around in that snow, tries to hide like a fox, jumps over it, and that this is the funnest thing, it obviously lifts your mood and you realize that there really is no such thing as bad weather – is just an outfit. Bitutė also taught me how to dress, taught me to love winter.

He also learned certain factors of responsibility. You are responsible for the animal that needs to be fed, and whoever owns a dog really knows how those dogs look at their owners, how they are in love with their owners and how they at least pretend to be completely dependent on you. After all, it’s not a cat, it won’t really feed itself. And Bitutė is one of those people who, if you put food in it, it won’t stay there right away – maybe there is a gap in my upbringing, but there are dogs whose owners load them with food and when the dog wants it, it eats. “But if you load Bee, everything will just disappear, because she is quite voracious and likes to steal food, steal something from the table, she likes to ask a lot, but this is a principle and characteristic of spaniels,” says Vaidas.

According to the singer, spaniels are really a very voracious breed. In addition, Bitė has mastered an effective manipulation technique that helps to ask for the desired treat. Of course, as Vaidas says, his bitch is a great manipulator by asking not only for food, but also for other things that she craves.

“I don’t know if it’s just my dog, but with Bite, I realized that she is very vocal and especially with such dejections, but maybe this is a trait of female bitches, I don’t know, I haven’t met males, but she really mumbles and talks, and begs, and very manipulates And manipulation is the main feature here. Here, as with all dogs, but this spaniel, Bite, this is the main main feature: to manipulate, to hum, to beg, to poke with the nose.

We used to sleep together, now we sleep separately, so if I open the door at night, she manages to get in, then wakes her up, pokes her with her nose so that I let her under the blanket. She settles down not just anywhere, but definitely lands in the lap – lies down between my legs, then licks my feet, tickles normally and then falls asleep. It’s very cute and very cozy, but it’s very difficult to sleep together, because the human instinct immediately kicks in not to wake up that animal – I’d rather not sleep all night”, laughs Bee’s owner.

The bee is a very intelligent dog – it uses manipulative techniques with all other people who are in its way.

“I don’t give, she understands that, but she asks and terrorizes other people very, very badly. She is generally very foraging and no matter how social she is, because I take her everywhere and take her everywhere with me, to all the restaurants where possible and the dog is allowed, and it seems like it should be a habit that we go there and she you have to lie down, rest, but no – at first she will manipulate, squeal, terrorize so that she is released, runs somewhere towards the kitchen and checks where the food is being prepared, where the smells are. There is no way she can cope. Of course, maybe this is my fault, I should encourage her not to do it with incentives – treats, but, you understand, sometimes I forget to do that too,” smiles Vaidas.

Bee, like many dogs, could not avoid discipline lessons, where she had to learn exemplary behavior. However, as Vaidas says, she still lacks certain skills. For example, she likes to jump on people, which, the performer says, is not the most pleasant feature of her. However, the interviewer is happy that Bitė is a very good and peaceful dog that does not cause fear in people. On the contrary – only the best emotions.

“Very cool, that Bitė also changed my mother’s opinion about animals, especially dogs, because she was already so apathetically afraid of dogs… Apparently, she was very scared in her childhood. But after Bee appeared, little by little, everything changed – from saying: this dog will never be in our apartment to the question: when will Bitute visit us? We miss you so much. This is what seems to me to be a standard, repeated story, where the internet shows parents who didn’t want a dog, and then sleep with that dog all the time. And what does that mean… She seems to deliberately choose those living things, those people who might have some kind of fear or attitude. We danced at the “Zalgiris Arena” concert with Neri, the host of “Eurovision”, and he said: “I’m more of a cat person, and Bitė came to him, it seems that he chose him on purpose”, says the singer.

Bee had to learn exemplary behavior with the help of punishments. Once, when Bee was still spending days in the cage and had the opportunity to walk freely around the house, she gnawed Vaida’s headphones. This time, the singer had to take educational measures.

“Those who have dogs understand very well that a dog must have its place, even in an apartment, a cage is not a bad thing – you do not torture the animal, you create it in such a way that it is the dog’s favorite refuge. Bitutė was still living in a cage at that time, but I kept letting her out because I didn’t want her to live in a cage. I wanted her to be free, and there was a real bed where she could sleep by herself, so I started to apply that cage removal and maybe she realized that she was given too much of that freedom, so she one thing, another thing – a corner and headphones – gnawed.

I thought: well, we will still use the cage system, and apparently it has become so ingrained in her brain that there is perhaps even some kind of punishment here, and the next time I pulled the cage, everything fell into place. Every dog, it seems to me, can be trained. I may not be the kind of owner who wants to turn a dog into a robot. But again, you also need to remember that the dog likes to learn, he likes to be busy, he likes to behave in such a way that he is praised, so that the master fine“, he says.

Today Bee is a very obedient pet. While walking outdoors, Vaidas often lets her go without a leash, while Bee listens to his instructions and avoids dangerous places.

“The thing that is very calm about Bee is that she has learned not to enter the street. Maybe because I tried very hard to lead her loose, to socialize her from an early age, so what maybe didn’t happen in restaurants, cafes, it happened while walking and walking towards the streets – she understands that you need to stop at the street, or she understands that when I stop at streets, it must stop together. Sometimes you have to say stop and she really stops, waits, doesn’t run.

And another trait of hers, like spaniels, is that she doesn’t necessarily get along well with small children, she doesn’t get along with them, and she doesn’t necessarily get along well with other dogs. This means that you will definitely not run across the street after seeing a dog. She can come for a sniff, but for someone to sniff her, it’s through her corpse,” laughs the interviewer.

When asked which four-legged spaniels would be most suitable for people, Vaidas is open: for all those who really like leashed pets.

“There are some other dog breeds that are more attached, but she is such a complete, complete tailgater – toilet together, shower together, everywhere together. It seems to me that every dog, if you take good care of it, gives three times more love. If you just show the dog love, the dog will give you even more love in return. And what do you need more in life than love and comfort?

Of course, spaniels like to get wet, they like to get dirty, they like to roll in fresh grass or something else, they also like to eat nonsense and such very smelly nonsense, especially people. You need to understand that and just love and care. In general, every dog ​​needs to be cared for and loved. Anyway, it’s a beautiful dog, really a very beautiful color, especially these caramel, brown spaniels. And they are really very loving and very affectionate,” says Vaidas.
