According to data from the Lithuanian Energy Agency, in 2024 in the first quarter compared to 2023 in the fourth quarter, due to a slight decrease in the price of electricity, the cost of recharging an electric vehicle’s battery decreased by 1.1 percent. The average price of electricity decreased from 0.277 EUR/kWh to 0.274 EUR/kWh.

Cheaper gasoline slightly reduced travel costs for gasoline-powered cars, while higher diesel prices increased travel costs for diesel-powered cars.

When traveling by car, the engine of which requires 95 brand gasoline, the average cost of fuel amounted to 10.91 euros, while in the fourth quarter of last year it was 11.27 euros, that is, it was 3.2 percent. bigger ones. The average price of gasoline decreased from 1.52 EUR/l to 1.47 EUR/l during the fourth quarter.

Driving a 100 km distance in a diesel-powered car, fuel costs averaged 8.98 euros in the first quarter of the year, compared to 8.83 euros in the fourth quarter of last year.

In the first quarter of this year, compared to the fourth quarter of last year, diesel costs increased by 1.7 percent, due to the increase in the average price of diesel.

The cost of a trip in a natural gas-powered car decreased during the quarter: a 100 km trip in a passenger car cost 9.25 euros, and a light cargo car cost 14.40 euros. During the first quarter of this year, the average price of natural gas (SDG – compressed natural gas, official) decreased by 2.2 percent compared to the fourth quarter of last year. – from 1.79 EUR/kg to 1.75 EUR/kg.

in 2024 April 1 A total of 21,353 electric cars were registered in the Road Vehicle Register of the Republic of Lithuania, of which 12,823 were pure electric cars (12,381 – M1 category and 442 – N1 category electric cars) and 8,530 externally charged hybrids (8,525 – M1 category and 5 – N1 categories).

Diesel and gasoline-powered vehicles continue to make up the largest part of our country’s passenger car fleet (66% and 23%, respectively).

The Lithuanian Energy Agency analyzes and publishes information on the average fuel costs for driving 100 km using alternative fuels (electricity, natural gas) and internal combustion engine fuels (95 brand gasoline, diesel).
