After M. Laurinavičius announced about the trips of T. Gailius’ family to Russia, the reporter assures that he kept in touch only with the employees who worked at the embassy. In a post on Facebook, T. Gailius shared that the information spread by the political commentator was “an ordinary dose of slander”.

He also assured that he intends to apply to the General Prosecutor’s Office and the Comptroller of Intelligence regarding VSD’s violation of human rights and illegal collection of information.

”Since it is known from Marius Laurinavičius’ “pen” that he relies on the information of his sources from the VSD, which, in my opinion, is really detailed, and when I was still working at the VSD, I only talked to my wife’s friends about these family outings with the then Internal Security Board of the VSD I am the boss, who is directly subordinate to the director of the VSD, so in the near future I plan to apply to the General Prosecutor’s Office, the Intelligence Controller regarding VSD’s violation of my and my family members’ human rights, interference in our personal life, illegal collection and distribution of information about him. I also plan to apply to the court for defamation of me and my family and humiliation of honor and dignity,” T. Gailius wrote on Facebook on Wednesday.

Possible connections of M. Laurinavičius with VSD management

According to the speaker, while still working in intelligence, he received several orders from VSD director Darius Jauniškis and his deputy Remigijaus Bridikis to collect and provide them with classified information, which would later be handed over to M. Laurinavičiis. However, T. Gailius emphasizes, he refused to carry out such an order.

”In 2017-2018, I received an order several times from the director of the VSD, D. Jauniškis, and his deputy, R. Bridikis, to collect and provide them with classified information, which would later be passed on to M. Laurinavičius. I refused to do that. At least two former and current VSD officials still know about it. I also testified about this to the temporary investigation commission,” he said on the social network.

“That these testimonies are not my revenge against M.Laurinavičius, Dovydas Pancerovs can also testify, to whom I told him about this situation only while collecting material for the book “The Speaker and the President”, T. Gailius added.

The situation is uncomfortable for the “creators of the welfare state”

The reporter assures that this situation and the “regular dose of slander” only prove that the story is uncomfortable for President Gitan Nausėda and the heads of the special services.

”Now it’s really clear to the naked eye that this book, the parliamentary inquiry born after its release, its conclusions are like a knife for the “Developers of the Welfare State” and the current and former heads of law enforcement and special services and other actors gathered around them, and they will do everything, to humiliate, disparage, and trample the reputation of the people involved in these processes”, thought T. Gailius.

ELTA reminds that last week the Ethics and Procedures Commission of the Seimas concluded that the parliamentary commission investigating the history of the VSD reporter exceeded its authority and illegally revealed the identity of the reporter Tomas Gailius. In addition, the chairman of the commission, Vytautas Bakas, was biased and interested in the investigation, according to ethics watchdogs.

As reported earlier, the Seimas approved the conclusions of the parliamentary investigation after the discussion – the last vote remained for their approval. The conclusions of the VSD rapporteur’s commission cast a shadow over President Gitanas Nausėda and the heads of special services. After several months of analysis and the testimony of a dozen officials, it was established that the head of the Security Service, Darius Jauniškis, helped the then candidate G. Nausėda by collecting intelligence information about his environment. The conclusions of the investigation also state that the VSD investigated possible violations in the financing of G. Nausėda’s election campaign.

It was also found out that G. Nausėda and members of his electoral staff in 2018-2019 maintained contacts with representatives of the Belarusian fertilizer business, met with them, and after becoming the head of the country, invited these persons to the events held at the Presidency.

Meanwhile, the head of the Special Investigation Service (STT), Linas Pernavas, according to the commission, abused his duties by refusing to provide the information gathered during the criminal intelligence investigation and misleading the commission members.
