A crushing blow to the Russian agency that planned the assassination of Zelensky: two high-ranking Ukrainian government security officers were detained

The SBU report states that Russian agents planned to kill Volodymyr Zelenskyi, SBU chief Vasiliy Maliuk, intelligence chief Kyryl Budanov, other unnamed representatives of the military and politicians.

According to the Ukrainians, the Russian agents worked for the Fifth Department of the Russian Security Service (FSB). Two colonels of the State Security Board of Ukraine (protection of the country’s leaders) were detained. The Fifth Division of the FSB specializes in activities in Ukraine, Liga reports.

He planned to take Zelensky hostage and kill him

The management of the State Security Board helped to clarify the activities of the Russian agency in Ukraine to the security forces, which helped to identify the officials who passed the secret information to the occupiers.

The SBU report explains that the agency was actively developing a plan to assassinate the president of Ukraine: one of their tasks was to find executors among the soldiers who work in the protection of the country’s leader, who could have taken V. Zelensky hostage and then killed him.
