MEP Viktoras Uspaskich receives more than a third of all politicians working in the European Parliament (EP) as additional income, according to the report of Transparency International’s European Union (EU) department based on private interest declarations.

At that time, other members of the European parliament elected in Lithuania declared that they did not receive income for additional activities.

As Transparency International reported on Monday, V. Uspaskich, who was elected to the EP with the Labor Party, indicated that he receives 3 million euros annually. EUR for additional income related to the company Edvervita.

According to the organization, this is more than a third of the additional income declared by the European Parliament, which amounts to 8.7 million. Eur.

V. Uspaskich’s income from additional activities is more than 13 times higher than that of the second highest paid member of the European Parliament, French representative Jerome Riviere, who earned more than 220,000 euros in companies providing financial services.

Nine out of 11 Lithuanian representatives in the EP indicate that they have at least one additional activity.

Liudas Maylis, a member of Tvynas Union-Lithuanian Christian Democrats, declared the most activities, he will indicate that he is a member of various societies, clubs and associations.

Vilija Blinkeviit, Rasa Jukneviien, Bronis Rop, Stasys Jakelinas, Aura Seibutyt each declared their activity.

According to Transparency International, 497 and 705 MEPs declared additional activities, one-fifth of which are paid.

According to Transparency International, 12 out of 20 MEPs with additional jobs received more income from external activities than from the salary of a member of the EP.

It is necessary to ensure that our elected representatives will act in the interest of society and not personal interests. The cover of the organization is based on the private interest declarations presented in the official accounts of EP members, collected on April 24. If circumstances change, politicians must update these declarations within months.

Lithuanian representatives submitted their declarations to the EP at the end of last year.

The salary of a member of the European Parliament amounts to slightly more than 7,800 EUR after taxes.
