A dangerous time is approaching: US analysts warn that Russia is changing its target and will intensify its attacks

--

ISW analysts say that S. Shoigu’s speeches focus mainly on blows to Ukrainian logistics. According to analysts, this indicates that Russian forces may change their targets and strike Ukraine’s transport infrastructure, logistics and military depots.

Russian forces are likely to intensify ongoing offensive operations in the coming weeks to take advantage of material weaknesses in Ukrainian forces before the arrival of United States security assistance, ISW analysts wrote in their latest report.

Targeted at transport infrastructure

In addition, Shoigu’s focus on Russian offensive operations near Chasov Yar, west of Avdiyivka, and west and southwest of the city of Donetsk again indicates that Russian forces are likely to intensify their offensive in these areas, analysts believe.

April 19 Russian forces have launched heavy strikes against Ukraine’s transport infrastructure in the Dnipropetrovsk region and may be planning to repeat and expand these strikes in the coming weeks to disrupt Ukraine’s land lines of communication.

According to ISW analysts, Russian military commanders may expect such an effort to limit Ukraine’s ability to adequately distribute manpower and logistics to critical frontline locations and delay the enhanced capabilities that incoming U.S. defense assistance will provide to Ukrainian forces.
