A Spanish soldier was killed in the Polish training ground: the painful circumstances of the tragedy became clear

His life is said to have been claimed by an accident that took place on the range during NATO’s Saber Strike 2024 maneuvers.

“At this painful moment, we want to express our sincere condolences and unconditional support to his family and colleagues,” the Spanish military command wrote in a statement on Monday.

The report clarifies that the victim of the tragic event is a corporal from a unit in the Spanish autonomous city of Ceuta.

“The accident occurred during a tactical exercise using live ammunition,” the statement said.

According to the daily El Mundo, the soldier who died was a 43-year-old father of two daughters from Ecuador. He has served in the Spanish army since 2004.

Among others, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and the leader of the largest opposition faction in the parliament, Alberto Nunez Feijoo, expressed their condolences to the soldier’s family.

The Polish Ministry of National Defense also shared a message of condolence on their X account. “We deeply regret the death of a Spanish soldier during the international exercise Saber Strike. Respect to his memory!” the ministry wrote.
