The building has a rich history
The building, built back in 1875, is included in the register of immovable cultural assets of the Republic of Lithuania.
in 1922 in this house, the philanthropist Muriel Paget and the English mission founded the first Mother and Child Health Center in Lithuania. in 1923 it was taken over by the city municipality, the center is named after M. Paget, and a dispensary is also located here. in 1932 In the building, the Union of Organizations for the Care of Lithuanian Mothers and Children established the Museum of Mother and Child, intended to educate the society of that time and spread hygiene knowledge.
In this house from 1938 to 1951 famous sculptor professor Bronius Pundzius also lived there. One of the sculptor’s most famous works is the bas-reliefs of S. Darius and S. Girėnas, carved in 1943.
