The head of the G9 department of the General Jonas Žemaitis Lithuanian Military Academy, Maj. Speaking to the media, Donatas Suchockis reminded that on Tuesday from 10 p.m. until 5 o’clock in the evening in the morning, a curfew is introduced in certain areas. D. Suchockis indicated what changes residents can expect.

“Officers can restrict traffic on certain streets, stop transport, check the documents of the vehicle driver or passengers, check the contents. Armed or unarmed civilians may also be seen provoking commando soldiers to simulate detention or rapid response procedures“, said D. Suchockis.

The soldier also revealed how people in civilian clothes participating in the exercise should be identified.

“Most of that force will have markings, armbands.” Also, exercise transport will have either the exercise logo or a white sheet attached to the window. One can also note the elements of the uniform of people in civilian clothes, recognizable from standard weapons such as the G36“, said D. Suchockis.

According to D. Suchockis, the exercises are taking place all over Lithuania, so we can expect a greater flow of soldiers on public roads. Although residential areas have been chosen for the exercise, they are more of an industrial type, so many residents will probably not see the soldiers

Residents do not need to prepare additionally

Currently, exercises are taking place throughout Lithuania, so the movement of soldiers will be increased on public roads as well.

As D. Suchockis stated, military command posts have been activated in 22 municipalities – Kaunas and Vilnius regions.

The selected areas are residential, but more of an industrial type. Therefore, many residents in the settlements will probably not see the soldiers. D. Suchockis once again confirmed that no additional requirements are imposed on residents. It is true that residents of some districts should have an identity document with them.

“There are no additional requirements. Only if you plan to walk at night in Viršuliškės, Aukštei Paneriai, it is really worth having an identity document“, advises D. Suchockis.
