“The price of gas in the region rose in mid-April, which was influenced by the unexpectedly cold weather and, as a result, the increased demand for gas in the market. However, later when the weather warmed up, the trajectory of the gas price began to go down”, Giedrė Kurmė, head of the GET Baltic exchange, was quoted as saying in a statement released on Monday.

“The Estonian-Finnish gas pipeline connection “Balticonnector”, which started operating again on April 22, also had an influence on the price drop. Due to this circumstance, the price differences between the different trading floors of the GET Baltic exchange also decreased. This shows that the additional gas supply alternative creates favorable conditions for price convergence,” she added.
