As the weather warms, more and more two-wheeled vehicles take to the streets, both police officers and residents of the city of Alytus notice. An OPEL ZAFIRA car and a KAWASAKI motorcycle collided on Sunday in Alytus, at the intersection of Naujosios-Žuvintos-Raudonkalnis streets. The accident happened after noon. According to initial police data, the motorcycle tried to drive straight from Žuvintas Street while crossing Naujaja Street. At that time, the OPEL car turning left from Raudokalnis street did not miss the motorcycle that was going straight and the vehicle collided head-on.

During the accident, a 41-year-old motorcycle driver and a 46-year-old OPEL driver were injured. They were taken to S. Kudirkas Hospital of Alytus County, later the motorcycle driver was transferred to the Resuscitation Department. Both vehicles were damaged in the accident. Alytus police are investigating who is to blame for the accident.

The new street is the most dangerous in the city. After a painful accident, when a taxi driver was fatally injured, people started talking about the average speedometers on this street. A. Jurgelevičius, head of the Alytus county VPK, agrees with this.

The leaders of the city of Alytus believe that after the installation of measuring systems, speed lovers will move to other streets, and the installation and maintenance of speed meters is too expensive for the city municipality.
