About 4 o’clock night, after damaging the lock of the MAN fuel tank parked on Kooperacijos Street, an attempt was made to steal diesel, the total value of which is 420 euros. Sensing that they were spotted, the suspects ran away from the scene, but they were unable to escape. A BMW was found about a kilometer away, in the trunk of which police officers found canisters with stolen diesel. A 36-year-old resident of Baisogala was sitting at the wheel of the car. Two more fleeing suspects were arrested in different places a few hours later: the 25-year-old – in Kelme, his 33-year-old accomplice – outside Kelme. The latter, running from the scene of the diesel theft, managed to break into the unlocked car left by the irresponsible owner and steal the foreign bank payment card that was there. The detainees are the woman’s cohabitant and the latter’s acquaintance from the Radviliškis district. Both men have been convicted many times, mostly for theft.

The pre-trial investigation into the theft of fuel from a vehicle in Kelme helped the investigators uncover thefts in Radviliškis, Panevėžys and Ukmergė districts.

The aforementioned trio is suspected of having committed a theft from a Ford Ranger car in Ukmerge, during which the catalytic converter, its filter and the exhaust gas temperature sensor were stolen and property damage of EUR 4,766 was caused to the owner.

During the pre-trial investigation, it was established that another accomplice was involved in some of the thefts committed by the cohabitants – also a 35-year-old resident of Radviliškis district, who has been convicted of theft many times. Namely, it is suspected that diesel and metal were stolen several times from a homestead in the village of Spirakii in the Panevėžys district, and fuel was stolen from a truck parked in the parking lot in the Radviliškis district, in the village of Pakalniškii.

The collected data shows that the men were taken to all the crime scenes by a woman in a BMW car. She has also been charged with the aforementioned thefts. The woman also had to deal with the Child Rights Protection Service, because when criminal investigators went to search her place of residence after her arrest in Kelme, they found three children, aged between 1.5 and 12 years old, left unattended. Thus, the children are put to sleep and left alone, while their mother and her accomplices go to other districts to commit criminal acts.

In total, four residents of Radviliškis district have been charged with theft of metal, car fuel and parts, as well as damage to property. At the moment, the officers of the Property Crimes Investigation Board have already completed the pre-trial investigation and the prosecutor of the Šiauliai District Prosecutor’s Office, who led it, handed the case over to the court.
