Mercedes is not going through the best of times right now. The team that dominated the championship relatively recently achieved its last victory in the championship a year and a half ago, and so far this season does not show very successful results.

According to George Russell, who will remain at Mercedes, Mercedes should match McLaren as the latter team’s rise shows how quickly it can “shoot up”.
“We are well aware that many things are not satisfying for us at the moment. But we have examples of how quickly things can change. One year ago, McLaren qualified seventeenth and eighteenth respectively in Miami, and now they have won the race in Miami. So it shows how things change when the right direction is taken,” said Russell.
