“Dream2Drive” went to the first Baltic Circuit Championship with a larger lineup than ever before. Here they brought 4 BMW models that participated in the BMW 325 Cup series and 2 of the team’s newest cars, the Porsche GT3 Cup 992. But about everything from the beginning.

A new stage in the history of the team

“We have been looking forward to the start of the season with excitement, because when the GT3 CUP cars are in the team tent, everything becomes much more serious. However, the processes and methodologies we formed allowed us to work smoothly, and I would assess the start itself as really positive: out of the 5 drivers who started, 3 got on the podium”, says Dream2Drive team leader and founder Tauras Tunyla.

The biggest surprise for the team in this race was Eduardas Klepik, who started behind the wheel of the Porsche GT3 Cup 992. This is only the second season in his career, but E. Klepik showed the second best time in qualifying after two days of training. In the first race, he defended this position, losing only to the much more experienced Frenchman Leo Messenger.

At the start of the second race, he challenged the race leader at the first turn, but a little later he made a mistake that cost him two positions and 4th place in the race. Nevertheless, the number of points accumulated in both races allowed him to climb to the second podium in this class.

Shuffled cards

Another important and compelling start was in the BMW 325 Cup race, where Dream2Drive took second place in the team standings last year. This year, the cards were messed up a lot by the engine management software developed by the organizers, which completely changed the character of the car, and everything had to be learned all over again.

Julius Kiršis, who started from 4th place in the first race, kept this position, while the race did not go so well for other teammates. Aurimas Mištautas had to leave the race after contact with a rival, and Donatas Jucius had to finish the race with a significantly reduced car power after an unsuccessful gear shift.

In the second “BMW 325 Cup” J. Kiršis finished third, and the number of points collected brought him two good news: 3rd place overall and 1st in the Masters standings. A. Mištautas, who started from the back of the lineup in the second start, crossed the finish flag in ninth place, overtaking eleven competitors during the race.

As Aurimas did not finish in the first race, he ranked only 18th overall, D. Jucius – 28th. A pleasant surprise was presented by Eitvydas Sitavičius, who recently started his career as an athlete, and was awarded as the fastest newcomer in the “Rookie” classification in this race.

New tracks for the team

“I’ll admit, we always want to fight for the win in the race, but even after this weekend we’re quite satisfied with the results. It’s true that this year we are setting completely different goals and at the same time we are spreading our wings to other European tracks, so an interesting and challenging season awaits”, sums up T. Tunyla.

He hints that the new Porsche models in the team’s garage allow them to look out into wider waters. It is planned that “Dream2Drive” will participate not only in the Baltic Circuit Championship, but also in the “Porsche Sprint Challenge Central Europe” race series, the first start of which will take place at the “Red Bull Ring” track in Austria on May 24-25.

The start of the most popular motor sports event in Lithuania – the Palanga 1006 km race – will also not be missed. For now, T. Tunyla does not reveal how many cars will carry the “Dream2Drive” flag here, but he assures that we will definitely see the team here. At the same time, he adds that TN Truck Rent became one of the team’s partners this year, which provided the best conditions for a brand new MAN truck for the season, which allows for a significant expansion of the racing geography and optimal planning of the team’s budget.

The start of the karting season is even more successful

Meanwhile, on April 18, the team’s official go-kart racing season started in the first round of the “Rotax Max Lithuania Challenge” in Anykščiai, where there was no shortage of changes in weather conditions. In the “Rotax Senior” class, only Henrikas Klepik, who is in his second season, dominated. The youngest athletes of the team, Leonas Žarikov and Aras Paskalis Bagatyrius, started in the “Rotax Micro” class. Leon crossed the finish line in fourth place in the “Micro” class and was awarded first place under 9 years. in the age category, and Aras finished in the seventh position and was awarded the second place under 9 years. age credit.

The following weekend, the team started at the Lithuanian karting championship, which was held at the same Anykščiai karting arena. Here the team was also represented by three athletes. In the most powerful KZ2 class, Domantas Knyva won and left everyone behind. In the youngest Micro 60 class, it was a battle until the last lap. The leader, Leon Zharikov, made a mistake in the final run and lost his position and crossed the finish flag in second place. Aras Paskalis Bagatyrius crossed the finish line in fourth place in the final.

“Last year, we had a so-called investment year, when all the youngsters started for the first time in their life or for the first time in a new class, so it was difficult to expect a result. It’s nice to see that the first starts of this season are beginning to spread the rings of hard work. This is a great motivation for both the team and the drivers, which I believe will add confidence to even better results in the course of the season”, – says Laurynas Razas, head of the Dream 2 Drive karting team.

It all started with simulators

A few years ago, the story of the Dream2Drive team began with the organization of a virtual racing championship. At the time, it was one of the first eSports events of its kind in Europe, and the winner of the championship won a place on the race team and could take their racing dream to the track.

During this time, transferring talents from the virtual screen to real sports, the team has formed a methodology and specialists that allow athletes to improve their skills, and novices and amateurs to effectively start and develop their sports careers with the supervision of professionals in their field.
