Red Bull’s Max Vertstappen won pole position in qualifying for the Miami GP sprint race. However, the champion admitted that he did not feel very comfortable and did not expect to record the best time.
“I really didn’t feel great in the second part of qualifying, and the situation didn’t improve in the third session. We couldn’t really push forward with the soft tires, but somehow we still managed to stay first. Of course I’m happy to accept it.
I don’t know why, but for some reason I didn’t feel comfortable driving. In training, everything was completely different. I felt comfortable and confident in my abilities during training, but none of that was there in qualifying. Maybe it has something to do with the layout of the track.
To be honest, after practice I was convinced that we could fight for pole, but in qualifying itself it didn’t seem like that anymore. In the end, we still came first. I don’t know what happened to our competitors in the last lap”, said M. Verstappen.
