This will be the third such parade since the beginning of the war in Ukraine.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to justify the invasion of the neighboring country in his speech in Red Square.

According to media reports, the parade will include, among others, soldiers who have fought in Ukraine in recent months. An air show was also announced.

As in previous years, Western heads of state and prime ministers will not participate in the parade and the huge arms exhibition.

The Kremlin has said that the leaders of the former Soviet republics of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, as well as Cuba, Laos and Guinea-Bissau, should sit next to Putin.

In many regions of Russia, parades commemorating the victory in World War II have been canceled due to security concerns. There will be no large ceremonies, for example, in the regions of Bryansk and Kursk, which border Ukraine and are under constant shelling.

Kim Jong Un wished Putin victory in the “fight against the imperialists”

The North Korean dictator claimed in his letter that victory in World War II was won by the “Russian people”. According to him, that war showed that “any aggressor who tries to dominate and conquer the world will never escape crushing.”

Kim Jong Un says that today the Russian people, under the leadership of Putin, “successfully continue the march of the victorious wartime generation” and “resolutely engage in a righteous struggle to defend the country’s sovereignty against the fierce challenges and threats of hostile forces,” apparently referring to Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.

“I express my firm support and solidarity with the sacred ideals of Russia and hope that you and the brave Russian army and people will win another victory in the fight against the imperialist hegemonic policies and arbitrariness,” Kim Jong Un’s greeting reads.
