The event held in the exclusive space “Aludariai Story Cellar” became an example of a quality evening. Dovydas Kiauka, who played the piano, welcomed the guests. Later, he was joined by the performer Marija Grabštaitė, who created a cozy atmosphere with her voice. After the action moved to the big hall, the organizers of the event spoke – photographer R. Mishka and art collector Darius Lebedzinskas.

“I travel a lot around the world, where I visit various exhibitions. During my stay in New York, I visited an exhibition where art combined with music. I thought that an event with such a concept could be organized in Lithuania as well. This is how the idea of The Spotlight project was born. We want to enhance art events with music, dance, and theatrical performances so that the guests have an indelible impression. There are many art exhibitions and the opening script is often quite the same, a bit boring. We want to make changes and make everything much more interesting and fun,” said D. Lebedzinskas.

The centerpiece of the evening was the exhibition of the well-known Lithuanian photographer R. Mishka, which captured American beauty. The shots were exhibited in specially made light boxes. The artist was inspired by the movie “Closer” for such an idea. “I’m more used to being off the frame than in the frame, so I felt a little unusual during the evening. I am glad that I was able to realize my vision. I believe in 10 thousand. the rule of hours, which says that if you do something consistently, you will succeed,” said the photographer.

“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder,” was the slogan of the exhibition. R. Mishka took the guests to American life, where there was no shortage of tanned bodies, sun, sea and palm trees. in 2019 the photographer came to Miami and held the first photo session of the project there. In three years, R. Mishka visited 11 states, where he organized more than 50 photo sessions. In his photographs, the Lithuanian immortalized models of different nationalities who were in America at the time and belonged to the world’s most famous agencies. The beauties valued in the fashion world were so impressed by R. Mishka’s work that they posed for free! The exhibition features 19 of the best photos, with which the artist answers the question he asked himself, what does American beauty look like.

“The main photo used in the event’s advertisements received the most praise. In it, the model poses while wading into the water. A lot of people liked the shot of a black mannequin with a car behind her. Interestingly, the car was not stationary in the frame, but passed by and I managed to get the perfect shot. All works are for sale, I am glad that there are already people who want to buy one or another photo”, said R. Mishka.

Misunderstandings are inevitable during photography. During the first photo shoot, R. Mishka got a sunstroke. Another time, together with the model, he witnessed a criminal incident, and repeatedly encountered difficulties in searching for locations for photo sessions. “The biggest difficulties were in my head. It seemed that my imperfect knowledge of the English language was getting in the way, I didn’t fully trust myself. I had high-level models posing for me, but I kept thinking that I wouldn’t be able to do my job well… The first year changed everything and it became much easier to work. I started dictating the conditions myself, I raised the bar, I realized that I am not inferior to other photographers. This whole phase of three years gave me a lot. I proved to myself that I can”, R. Mishka was happy with the successful project.

We wanted to bring together people who love the world of art and entertainment under the roof of a historical place. The place and the concept of the event are different than usual, and those who visited noticed that right away. The guests praised the delicate taste and conceptuality of the evening”, said Darius Voronenko, executive producer of the event.
