This year’s Met Gala theme was Sleeping Beauties: The Awakening of Fashion, and Kardashian wore a see-through Margiela by John Galliano gown with floral and leaf embroidery.
The silver-colored dress was perfectly matched with the celebrity’s loose, cool-toned wavy hair and subtle makeup, the main focus of which was shiny silver eyeshadow. A minimalist short gray sweater was also perfect. Of course, K. Kardashian wouldn’t be K. Kardashian if the chosen image wasn’t shocking – this time the main focus was a silver-colored corset, narrowing the woman’s waist, it seems, to an incredible limit. At one point, she needed the help of those around her to climb the stairs due to the extremely restrictive dress.
The theme of this year’s Met Gala is directly related to the Costume Institute’s new exhibition, which will feature 250 objects, including fifteen very special exhibits. One of them is Charles Frederick Worth’s 1877 silk evening dress. The exhibition covers more than 400 years of fashion history.
K. Kardashian has become almost the most prominent guest at the Met Gala for several years now. She made her debut back in 2013, when she was expecting her first offspring in North West. Then the woman walked the red carpet wearing a Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci dress. She then appeared at the event with then-boyfriend Kanye West, who also wore a Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci suit.
The image at the time caused a real wave of internet memes, netizens compared the dress to a sofa cover. In 2019, K. Kardashian admitted to Vogue’s video series “Life in Looks” that the Internet’s reaction to her image then made her very sad.
“I cried all the way home, I couldn’t believe it,” the famous woman admitted.
