Armin Papperger, head of the German military industry giant Rheinmetall, has promised that hundreds of thousands of projectiles, including prototypes of artillery ammunition that can reach targets 100 kilometers away, will reach Ukraine by 2024, according to the German publication Handelsblatt, Kyiv Independent reports.

The US-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW) has announced that Russia is building up its forces for an attack on Kharkiv.

Analysts said Russia was forming a northern group of forces from elements of the Leningrad Military Region. However, ISW specialists believe that Russia does not have enough effective forces to capture Kharkiv or Sumy Oblast.

Russian forces continue to advance west of Avdijivka, according to the Institute for Military Research (ISW). A US-based think tank said on Sunday it had geo-tagged footage of Russian troops advancing near Arkhanhelsk, northwest of the Russian-held city.

In recent weeks, fighting has intensified in villages such as Arkhanhelsk, near Avdijivka, and further north around Chasiv Yar.

“ISW assesses that Russia’s capture of Arkhangelsk also indicates that Russian forces are likely in control of Keramik and Novokalynov (both southeast of Arkhangelsk),” the statement said.

The analytical center also said it had noticed that Ukrainian forces had withdrawn from the northern part of Arkhangelsk.
