The city leader Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Pro (2nd Gen) has become even more powerful

--

What has changed in the second generation scooter?

The nominal motor power of Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Pro is 350W, the maximum power is 700W. The nominal motor power of Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Pro (2nd Gen) is increased to 400W and the maximum power is 1000W. This scooter can overcome 22 percent uphill Unfortunately, I can’t say what its top speed might be, as it is limited to 25 km/h to comply with the requirements of the Road Safety Act for electric micromobility. By the way, according to this law, the maximum motor power of an electric micro-mobility vehicle cannot exceed 1,000 W, so the maximum power was chosen for this scooter.

The battery capacity of the second generation model has been increased from 446 Wh to 468 Wh, so the maximum driving distance of this scooter has increased by 5 kilometers – up to 60 km. Increased power, a larger battery and a different frame design have slightly increased the weight of the scooter – it has become 2 kg heavier.

The 10-inch tires have also been improved – they have been widened from 54 mm to 60 mm, so they absorb shocks better, and due to greater contact with the road surface, the grip has improved, so you can lean more in turns and generally drive more stable and safer. The drive wheel has been moved to the rear, as in the Scooter 4 Ultra model.

Bright and highly visible cornering lights mounted on the steering wheel have also significantly increased safety. The headlight turns on automatically after dark. A more efficient braking system should also be noted.

The main features of the electric scooter “Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Pro (2nd Gen)”:

  • driving distance – up to 60 km;
  • maximum speed – 25 km/h (limited);
  • driving modes: pedestrian (up to 6 km/h); standard (up to 20 km/h), sports (up to 25 km/h).
  • nominal power – 400 W
  • maximum power – 1,000 W;
  • battery capacity 468 Wh;
  • scooter mass – 19 kg;
  • maximum load – 120 kg;
  • can beat 22 percent uphill;
  • wheel size – 10″.

The power is not only demonstrated by the engine, but also by the entire structure

If you compare the first and second generation Scooter 4 Pro scooters, you can immediately see that the frame of the Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Pro (2nd Gen) has a different design – stronger, more solid. In addition, the frame is made of steel (the first generation model is made of aluminum). Assembly quality is extremely high: no wobbles, no complaints about stiffness. Carrying capacity is solid: this scooter can be used by a rider weighing 120 kg, and a static load of up to 500 kg.

The configuration is the same as Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Ultra

The electric scooter “Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Pro (2nd Gen)” is mounted on the rear wheel and has an electric brake with ABS. A drum brake is installed on the front wheel. Both brakes work together and very efficiently, the braking distance is very short. If in the first generation models I did not like that the border between easy braking and sudden braking is very small, so it was necessary to be more careful with the brakes when cornering, then in the second generation model this is no longer the case. I rate the work of the brakes as excellent. During braking, the rear wheel generates energy and recharges the battery. The battery is also recharged when driving downhill.

The Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Pro (2nd Gen) inherits this drive wheel and brake design from the fastest off-road model, the Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Ultra. However, the Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Pro (2nd Gen) did not inherit shock absorbers and remained an urban scooter designed for driving on asphalt surfaces. True, I have been driving on gravel roads for quite some time and I would not say that it is only intended for asphalt surfaces. This scooter isn’t an off-road king like the Scooter 4 Ultra, but I didn’t have any problems on gravel roads (a benefit of the wider wheels).

“Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Pro (2nd Gen)” is not only powerful, but also maneuverable

By selecting the sporty “S” mode, the Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Pro (2nd Gen) immediately demonstrates the power of its engine. It has fun climbing steep mountains, maintaining a fast rate of ascent on ten percent slopes.

The scooter is not only nimble, but also maneuverable, which you will definitely feel when you have to turn around in a tight space, while driving on narrow and winding paths. The second-generation Scooter 4 Pro scooter is even more maneuverable than the first-generation model – less space was needed to turn around in a tight space.

According to data provided by Xiaomi, the Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Pro (2nd Gen) should be able to travel up to 60 km on a single charge. Of course, such a distance is achieved under specific conditions, which may differ significantly from the real ones. For example, if on a warm day you drive on a flat road at a constant speed of 15 km/h, there are no obstacles and no need to brake, there are no hills, if the scooter is driven by a person with a mass of 70 kg, a distance of 60 km will be achieved. But in the city, where you often have to brake – to accelerate, go uphill, go downhill, and the scooterist himself likes to use the full power of the scooter’s engine, the maximum distance traveled will be less.

Automatic headlight and bright cornering lights

The Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Pro (2nd Gen) scooter, like other Xiaomi scooters, is controlled by a central control button located in the center of the steering wheel. You can use it to turn the scooter on and off, select the ride mode, and turn the lights on or off. There are three driving modes: pedestrian, where the speed is limited to 6 km/h (for driving on pavements), standard (speed is limited to 20 km/h) and sport (which allows you to reach a speed of 25 km/h).

The screen shows speed, battery status, selected driving mode. There is a powerful LED light at the front, a red flashing brake light at the rear, bright yellow flashing cornering lights at the ends of the steering wheel, which are very visible from both the front and rear. The front LED light emits a bright stream of light, illuminates the road well: when driving at night, everything is clearly visible, only a small area near the front wheel is not illuminated. It turns on automatically after dark

Control with the Xiaomi Mi Home app

You can find more information and greater control options for the Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Pro (2nd Gen) in the Xiaomi Mi Home app. The app will show how many more kilometers we could drive, the exact state of battery charge, distance traveled, average speed, etc. It is also possible to lock the engine and protect the scooter. Of course, this is not physical protection, because someone can take the scooter and take it away, but it will not be possible to drive away. In addition, the rear light can be set to be “always on” and the front light to automatically turn on after dark.

We should also mention the intelligent battery management system (BMS) that constantly monitors its condition and protects against charging with too much power, deep discharge, overheating, and too much current. These measures extend the life of the battery and ensure safety while driving.

Assessment

After driving a couple of hundred kilometers with the Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Pro (2nd Gen) I can say that the impressions are positive. The scooter accelerates fun, I liked its stability and maneuverability. It is different from the first generation Scooter 4 Pro: more powerful, more stable, safer. The brakes are efficient. So a good scooter just got better.

Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Pro (2nd Gen) is perfect for daily riding over longer distances. It is a dynamic, fun and reliable city scooter.
