Important for drivers: Information regarding traffic changes at Fort IX is being revised

--

“Via Lietuva” informs that traffic management changes are being made in Kaunas, on the road near Fort IX. As this location aims to increase traffic safety and reduce the number of dangerous situations on the road, it will be equipped with new road markings.

After the road marking changes are implemented, the section at Fort IX will not be closed, it will be possible to access it via the connecting road.

Previously, it was possible to get to the parking area at this place by turning off the Kaunas–Marijampolė–Suvalkai road, but due to the number of recorded dangerous situations on the road, it was decided to abandon this decision. Also, in the near future, in order to reduce traffic congestion, an additional traffic lane will be opened near the shopping and leisure center “Mega”.

Phase I – works are being implemented, the roadway will not be destroyed, it will be possible to use it when going around, but it will not be allowed to change lanes from the A5 road.

At the moment, traffic management changes are being implemented in the mentioned section: new road signs were installed, old pavement markings were cleaned. In the coming days, for the convenience of drivers, the road surface will be re-marked based on the updated traffic management scheme.

Phase II – an additional lane is opened at PC Mega, the traffic organization scheme is currently being prepared, the marking line between the lanes may be of a different type.

“Via Lietuva” constantly assesses the situation on the roads of national importance. The traffic management decisions made by the company are based on conducted research, expert assessments, traffic safety inspection results and statistical data.
