Traffic changes under the Trakai viaduct (diagram) – MadeinVilnius.lt

Joint-stock company “Via Lietuva” informs that in the near future, due to the renewed and intensive overhaul of the Trakai viaduct, the order of traffic organization will change in this section. It is planned that the repair of the viaduct on the road from Vilnius to Trakus will be completed by the end of this year.

In the near future, traffic under the Trakai viaduct will be restricted and directed to a detour. Traffic around the roundabout will be one lane in each direction. In order to ensure greater traffic safety, flows of the opposite direction of traffic will be physically separated by applying engineering measures, curbs.

Drivers will be informed about traffic changes with additional information road signs and on the “Via Lietuva” website www.eismoinfo.lt. For those going to Traki or from Traki to Vilnius, it is recommended to choose alternative routes, for example, taking the main road Vilnius-Kaunas-Klaipėda via Grigiške or turning at Rykantai, you can also take the old road towards Lentvaris from the Vilnius southern bypass.

During the capital repair of the viaduct, demolition works of the remaining viaduct structures (overlay and supports), replacement of supporting overlay elements with new ones, installation of new deformation cuts, railings and barriers, accesses to the viaduct and similar works important for traffic safety and driver comfort are planned.

We remind you that in April, after the adjustment of the technical work project and the public procurement of additional works, “Via Lietuva” signed a work performance contract with UAB “Tilsta”, the value of the contract – 1.2 million. EUR with VAT.

The repair of the Trakai viaduct was initiated last year, but during the execution of the works, after the completion of preparatory and deck demolition work, it was found that the viaduct is in bad condition, the deck elements are completely worn out and do not perform their functions, the supporting structures (supports and overlay) are severely damaged. In order to ensure maximum safety for road users crossing the viaduct, it is foreseen that the renovation of the viaduct requires larger-scale works.

In order for “Via Lietuva” processes to be carried out quickly, smoothly and efficiently, last year the company carried out an additional assessment of the condition of bridges and viaducts that needed to be repaired and reviewed the ongoing examination processes of the condition of these objects.
