Together with Agne Vaitkuviene, the chairperson of the Lithuanian Rural Tourism Association, and a group of journalists, we visited Nemunaitis during the campaign “Open days in the village”. Darius Glušauskas and his wife Natalija are hosts here, on the banks of the Nemunas.
Darius, who worked for some time in Sweden, dreamed of cooking, or rather, his own restaurant. And that family restaurant – “Nemunas kranta pub” – is already alive. It is a cauldron on wheels that provides food for ordered lunches and celebrations. Pilaf, paella, stews are prepared in Kazan.
Various holidays can be celebrated in the cozy island at Nemunas gatvė 15 A, and when the weather warms up, everyone rushes to the Nemunas coast.
During the campaign, journalists were treated to Tashkent festive pilaf. This is a really delicious and hearty dish that is liked by adults and children alike. The hosts also served a vegetable salad seasoned with pomegranate seeds.
The products produced in Kazan are all added at once, the pilaf is prepared for about 2 hours. The owner says that he does not always find suitable rice for pilaf, and he chooses meat very carefully from reliable suppliers.
