Gregor Laschen’s translation workshop “Poetry of neighbors – poets translating poets” has turned into an internationally recognized event. These are philologically accurate translations, transcriptions and adaptations, juxtaposing two languages, two tones, two linguistic gestures.

This anthology presents the poems of six Lithuanian poets and poets Simons Bernots, Nerijas Cibulskas, Vaiva Grainytė, Birutė Grašetė-Black, Tautvyda Marcinkevičiūtė, and Donatas Petrošiaus. Translated by Uwe Kolbe, Dagmara Kraus, Thomas Kunst, Marcus Roloff, Lara Rüter and Sonja vom Brocke. The poems published in the collection are like a dialogue with the present.

As every year, the Kaunas Literature Week will pay special attention to the literature of Central and Eastern Europe. It will be represented this year by writers from Germany, Poland and Ukraine. In the discoveries, you will meet the author from Germany, Hans Thill. This will be a unique opportunity for the first in Lithuania to hear translations of his works.

H. Thill, together with the poet and essayist Donatas Petrošius and the poet, military medic and intelligence officer from Ukraine Jaryna Čornohuz, will introduce the anthology of six Lithuanian poets presented at this year’s Leipzig Book Fair “Poetry of Neighbors: Poets Make Poets”. H. Thill is the author of the anthology, but he will also read his poetry during the event.

The presentation of the anthology and the meeting with the writer Hans Thill will take place on Friday, May 10, at 5 p.m. In Kaunas artists’ house (56 V.Putvinskio st.). The event will be hosted by Rūta Eidukevičienė, a Germanist, literary scholar, dean of the Faculty of Humanities of VSU and associate professor of the Department of Foreign Languages, Literature and Translation Studies, Doctor of Philosophy.

The event will be held in English with translation into Lithuanian. Organizer – Kaunas Literature Week.
