Intensive preparations are being made for the Lithuanian break and hip-hop championship on May 19, the fifth Lithuanian Break Championship will take place in Vilnius, as well as the fourth Lithuanian Hip Hop Championship. The best break and hip-hop dancers of our country will compete all day at the Litexpo exhibition and congress center, but the culminating, final part of the event, where the medal winners of the strongest groups will be determined, will begin at 7:00 p.m.

This year’s championship will stand out due to several aspects. First of all, the Lithuanian break championship will be held less than three months before the Olympic Games in Paris, where break will debut as an Olympic sport. Not only that, Lithuania will also have its representative here – the country’s young break star Dominika Banevič – Bgirl Nick. D. Banevič’s performance is one of the most anticipated in the Lithuanian Break Championship.

“In the official competition in Lithuania, Nicka will dance for the last time before the start in Paris, so everyone is curious to see what new she has prepared, and at the same time they will want to wish her luck in France!” – Mindaugas Radvila, the director of the Break League of the Lithuanian Sports Dance Federation, couldn’t wait. Not only that, another innovation is that the break and hip-hop battles are moving to Vilnius. “We believe that the capital will be a convenient place for participants from all over Lithuania, as well as spectators,” the organizers are convinced. All the more, according to them, the fights of not only girls, but also men promise to be very interesting. “I am sure that there will be enough sports intrigue in all groups: the younger ones, compared to previous years,

changed the age groups, and in the category of adult boys, the medalists of the championship are constantly changing – everyone is preparing very persistently, looking for ways to surprise both the judges, competitors and spectators!” – said M. Radvila.

The third news of this year’s Lithuanian Break Championship is related to selections. This year, before the Lithuanian championship, three qualifying selection series competitions were already held in Kaunas, Klaipėda and Šiauliai, in which dancers of all year groups collected qualifying points and those who performed best in the Lithuanian championship went directly to the playoffs, avoiding the selection rounds on the day of the championship. “There are 29 such dancers. It is nice that they are also from various Lithuanian cities and represent various studios. On the other hand, I believe that this format of the Lithuanian championship will work – the athletes will be less tired – we can expect even better performances,” the head of the federation’s Break League had no doubts.

Enjoy what hip-hop dancers have before the championship. “Perhaps what pleases us the most is that this year, thanks to our partners, the best Lithuanian hip-hop dancer will receive a great prize – a trip and participation in an international hip-hop tournament and festival in the Netherlands!” said one of the organizers of the event, street dance enthusiast Dainius Žebrauskas.
