The well-known family of Inga and Aivars Stumbrė lives in Vilnius, in a very picturesque place – near the botanical garden of Vilnius University. However, it seems that after living there for several years, they decided that the land was too little after all. And then they took and fenced off the state-owned forest.

However, there is one problem. As the member of the Seimas Aistė Gedvilienė noticed in the program “TOP 3”, you can pick mushrooms or berries in the state forest, but you can’t really fence it off, according to the TV3 press release.

“When you post luxurious photos from your birthdays or children’s christenings and try to show how elite you are, first of all think about how you obey the law. Apparently, it seems to them that the laws are unwritten, and you can spread the plot at the expense of state land. And this shows a person’s attitude towards the laws themselves”, – Skirmantas Malinauskas also critically evaluates the family’s act.

The people around them envied the Bisons’ beautiful life and such spacious areas. And then they started and complained to Stumbrus that this closed forest is not theirs at all, but the state’s.

However, A.Stumbras himself told the program “TOP 3” that he did not do anything bad – apparently, he only wanted good. This news spread almost everywhere: journalists, environmentalists and politicians responsible for environmental protection rushed to Stumbrai’s house. And they all started talking about possible violations.

Having found himself in an unpleasant situation, A. Stumbras was not confused – he took it and invited him to his fenced territory of the state forest.

“Come in, no one is messing around there. I once arranged that sabbatical there so that the people of Vilnius could enjoy it,” he said.

True, the family not only fenced off a forest that did not belong to them, but also took care of it on their own: they built a basketball court, made a headquarters in a tree, and planted this whole property with thuja trees. However, according to A. Gedvilienė, thuja cannot be planted in the mentioned place. How about a basketball court or headquarters…

“A forest is a forest, but you cannot manage it and make it more beautiful. A forest turned into a garden is greed. If you want that forest and space, don’t build a fence – only a guest can be in the forest,” said the member of the Seimas.

And in order for the thuja and the newly erected illegal fence to stand more firmly, someone – possibly “accidentally” – removed several trees that were standing in the state forest.

“TOP 3” – Monday-Thursday, 9 p.m. on TV3.
