A celebration of elegance and body plastic

Over two hundred gymnasts – ten teams from Latvia, Ukraine and Lithuania – were welcomed at the celebration of elegance and body plastic held in Klaipėda – the gymnastics spring sports tournament “Kregždutės 2024”. The seventeenth international artistic gymnastics tournament took place at the Sports Palace on the first weekend of May.

Dressed in multi-colored costumes, the gymnasts demonstrated the beauty of this elegant sport in individual events with and without apparatus and in group exercise events.

Klaipėda sportswomen managed to shine and win more than one prize place and climb onto the highest award podium.

According to the organizer Renata Tankevičienė, this is a great opportunity for girls to test their strength, because there are three different categories A, B, C, so everyone can participate.

The results of this tournament are not published publicly, so only the first six places are known, but all participants receive awards and prizes.

Artistic gymnastics is a wonderful way to combine movement, expression and beauty in one.

This sport develops many physical and motor skills and improves the sense of rhythm.

“Artistic gymnastics helps to develop concentration, emotional stability, and self-confidence. It also encourages the development of friendship, solidarity, respect for the opponent and love for the team. Not forgetting that this sport develops a lot of physical and motor skills, improves the sense of rhythm and the speed of reflexes”, R. Tankevičienė shared the benefits of this rapidly popular sport in Lithuania.

According to the gymnasts themselves, this is one of the most anticipated tournaments. The athletes did not hide that they feel excitement and fear, but they are very happy to be able to test their strength and get to know gymnasts from other cities.

The tournament was crowned by the beautiful traditions fostered by the “Flight of the Swallow” club, among them a circle of friendship, where the young athletes who stop by get to know each other, exchange gifts and forget the competition for a while.

According to the athletes, this is one of the most anticipated parts of the celebration.
