The changes approved Thursday also restrict the advertising, marketing and availability of alcoholic beverages. This is to ensure that consumers receive additional information about the energy and nutritional value and composition of alcoholic beverages.

In order to reduce impulsive purchases, the amendments envisage the banning of sales promotion promotions, which offer the purchase of several units of alcoholic beverages at a lower price, as well as discounts on alcoholic beverages under consumer loyalty programs.

The amendments aim to prohibit the advertising of prices and discounts of alcoholic beverages in the media, in printed advertising and consumer publications, in cinemas, on the Internet, using postal services, including electronic mail, as well as in retail outlets where alcoholic beverages are sold.

It is also planned to ban the offering of alcoholic beverages for free as a gift or compensation in places of trade and services.

The draft law also provides that the retail sale of alcoholic beverages will be prohibited in gambling venues. This provision aims to distinguish between the two processes that lead to addiction, according to the comments of the draft law.

Parliament will still have to vote on the changes in a final reading.
