Although the implementation of this project lasted longer than planned, according to the mayor, there are objective reasons for this.
“Mistakes were made in the original design, the slope of the ships’ descent was planned too low. It turned out that not all ships will be able to be lowered into the water, and the slip itself is designed with such structures that the first flood water could carry away. It cost extra, but we provided what many ship owners deserve – a quality and affordable infrastructure. When implementing all projects, we pay attention not only to price, but also to quality. We could not allow the implementation of a low-quality project, therefore the base of the slip was additionally stabilized by installing a retaining wall, and the slope of the slip in the water was increased,” said A. Vaitkus.

For owners of small boats, 10 parking spaces with trailers, an access road, water columns, and outdoor gazebos are available near the pier.
This first pier is expected to revive shipping on the Dane River. And in the future, we are planning at least a few more such marinas for launching pleasure boats in Klaipėda.
