The Latvian airline company “airBaltic” announced the 2024 at the beginning of the summer season with a flight from Vilnius to Lisbon and a special event at the Vilnius airport. This season, three new routes are introduced and Vilnius is connected to almost 20 routes in the carrier’s network. In the coming summer season, airBaltic will offer a total of 15 new routes from Riga, Tallinn, Vilnius and Tampere. Among them will be such routes as Palanga-Amsterdam and Copenhagen-Oslo (Sandefjord, Torp).

Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, has a wonderful blend of ancient traditions and modern culture, making it an attractive destination for European travel. Located on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, Lisbon is famous for its hilly, cobbled streets and picturesque views. The city is full of architectural marvels, from historic districts such as the Moorish-influenced Alfama to Belem Tower and Jerónimos Monastery, examples of the Manueline style. As a cultural hub, Lisbon is full of museums, art galleries and a lively nightlife, enhanced by traditional Fado music. Lisbon is also known for its innovative cuisine and warm, welcoming atmosphere, offering unforgettable experiences to its visitors from all over the world.

“Starting in 2024 for the summer season, airBaltic is pleased to announce 15 new routes from its bases in Riga, Tallinn, Vilnius and Tampere, thus expanding its operations in Central and Southeastern Europe. This growth demonstrates our commitment to service development and network strengthening, thus consolidating our status as the leading airline in the Baltic States. We are constantly monitoring passenger needs and market trends to ensure that our offerings meet the changing needs of travelers, providing greater flexibility and convenience for both leisure and business travel. With these new routes, we look forward to an eventful summer, during which our passengers will be able to enjoy new cultures and experiences”, says Martinas Gaussas, President and CEO of airBaltic.

“The year-round direct flights from Vilnius to Lisbon provide reliable connections with another European capital. The new airBaltic route to Portugal opens up the entire Pyrenees region to us even more, and passengers planning trips across the Atlantic get more options. We are grateful to airBaltic for the long-term partnership that opens up new air routes and brings Lithuania and the entire Baltic region closer to the world,” says Tomas Zitikis, Head of Flight Development Department of Lithuanian Airports.

With a long-standing partner, Lithuanian airports also opened new routes to the German city of Hamburg and the Polish city of Krakow this year. These flights will make it possible to better respond to the needs of both business travel and inbound tourism, and will also serve NATO partnership projects. T. Zitikis points out that the air routes to Hamburg and Lisbon were created after using the new route development tool of Lithuanian airports – after applying the risk sharing partnership model.

Flights from Vilnius to Lisbon will last 4 hours and 45 minutes.
