“Not long ago, UNESCO granted Vilnius the status of a city of literature, and today we are taking the lead and, strengthening the international relations of the literary community, invited the representatives of the cities participating in the network to get acquainted with the initiatives and activities of Vilnius. I hope this event will reveal and present the unique experience of the city, encourage new literary initiatives and projects and strengthen the significance of literature for cities,” says Vilnius Vice Mayor Simona Bieliūnė.

May 6-10 six literary events will be held for the congress participants in the House of Writers of Vilnius and the House of Signatories of the National Museum.

There will also be meetings with Vilnius festival organizers, literary press editors, publishers, guests will visit Vilnius University, the Vilnius City Public Library, and the National Martynas Mažvydas Library.

On Friday (May 10), a tour of the literary Vilnius with poet and translator Rimus Užgiris will be organized for the guests.

Guests from France, Hungary, United Kingdom, Germany, USA, Sweden, Romania, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Poland and Slovenia are participating in the congress.
