UAB Vailida, a twenty-year-old freight and car transport and trade company, grew twice last year and reached 16.2 million. EUR sales, and over the past 5 years, averages have grown by almost 38% each year. Now Vailidas Autoveii mainly transports new and used cars to factories and seaport sales points in various parts of Western Europe.

Cleared after the storm

But until that day, Vailida had to live seriously for up to a year. in 2009 the crisis almost stopped the purchase of new cars, and our main customers, manufacturers and sellers of new cars, had to significantly slow down their activities, orders for transfers sometimes decreased.

At that time, many car owners were left without work, transmission prices fell drastically, some of our colleagues and competitors stopped working, the economy came to a complete halt. I managed to survive because I was still working selling used cars both in Lithuania and other countries. Finally, Vailida saw a recovery in demand and the car was finally running fast. And our manager also decided to develop another business with trucks. His efforts proved successful and the new activity became a serious boost for our development, says Donatas Kiliokas, head of Vailida’s business development.

The corona epidemic hit the factories, the sales of new cars and the need to deliver them to buyers came to a complete halt, there were big problems with the movement of the driver, their transportation, because not a few of them are foreigners. For a while, we were completely suspended, until the epidemic, only our reserves, accumulated over the past year, helped us to function, and we did not receive much help from the state… After some time, the activities of us and the entire industry began to normalize again, but soon, Matas Mozraitis, Vailidas transporto remembers the story operations manager. It seems that we are already starting to drift away, but then the war in Ukraine started. It almost completely stopped the car manufacturers we served, because some of the important components for new cars were made in Ukraine. It is understood that its production has stopped, and unfinished cars have been stored outside the factory. Our work has drastically decreased.

But every economic downturn is followed by brighter times.

krj’s strategy is to grow gradually

Soon, as soon as the production of components was differentiated, the golden age began: a large number of cars were completed and many were ordered by the manufacturer. Since there was no backup, and cars needed to be transported as quickly as possible, transportation prices rose sharply. Tesla, which opened a factory in Berlin at that time, also made a strong contribution to its rise. She wanted to attract more people, so she was paying exorbitant prices at the time. Because of this, other manufacturers tried to remain competitive or at least pay the same, so they also raise prices. Such strong demand also explains the 2023 twice the sales of the company. The company’s activities, which were strategically and correctly aligned, made it possible to maximally satisfy the needs of customers, to maintain the quality of services, which is very important to our customers, says M. Mozraitis. It is also necessary to mention and single out the Vailida team, the drivers, without whom the team would not have achieved such a result. In this industry, every employee is extremely important, so everyone’s opinion is valued and listened to.

Both last year and this year, our motivated team and car fleet are growing, we are improving processes and management, deepening our competences, says D. Kiliokas. today we are in the stage of stable growth, and the biggest income continues to be new cars and cargo transfer between Western Europe and used car transportation and trade in Lithuania. The goal is to implement the manager’s strategy so that the company can grow gradually. That’s why we grew a team, last year we decided to open an office in Vilnius as well.

A harmonious duo running a successful business

It is obvious that the transfer order has decreased significantly this year, prices are stabilizing and near normal waters, comments M. Mozraitis.

It’s not good for business when prices go up sometimes. It is better for everyone when the business develops stably and predictably, when we can expand both the team and the fleet in a planned way, assures D. Kiliokas.
