The event is led by: guide, poet, reader Neringa Daniulaitienė and poet, writer, author and grower of the idea of the Poet’s Lawn, which has been held in the VDU Botanical Garden for the third year, and Povilas Venta Kuprys, who has repeatedly won the Kaunas Slam competitions. The meeting with the young poets of Kaunas will take place in the authentic interwar villa of colonel, engineer Dominick Grabis and his wife Bronislava Grabienė.

“The idea of this event, including in the villa “Grabytė”, came after starting to conduct tours there with my fellow guide Diana Valenskaite and seeing what a wonderful mood is created in the living room with a hundred-year-old piano that has never left the house, with family dishes, vases, sofas and armchairs preserved in the cupboards .

All of this reminded me of Sofijas Kymantaitė-Čiurlionienė’s famous Saturdays or V. Mykolaitis-Putin’s afternoons with students at his house, where poems were read, exhibitions or book reviews were presented. And then the idea arose that even the morning can start with poetry – who said that it is suitable only in the evening?” says Neringa Daniulaitienė, one of the presenters of this event.

Marija and Veronika, the great-granddaughters of the owners of the villa, colonel Domininkas Grabis and his wife Bronė, gladly agreed to host the readings of the young poets of Kaunas on Saturday morning.

We want to inform the audience of the event that there are really not many comfortable seats on sofas and armchairs, but you can listen to poetry curled up on the windowsill or cross-legged on the wooden floor. Event registration link here.

From 13:00 we invite you to the event “Išeiviai ir namiškiai”, which will take place in the city center, in Kaunas Vincas Kudirkas public library (Laisvės al. 57).

“Morning with poetry” will be held on May 11, Saturday, at 11 a.m., in the villa “Grabytė” (Gailutės st. 19).

The 4th Kaunas Literature Week will take place on May 8-12. Festival program.
