The long-awaited reconstruction of Trakai Street is approaching: what will change? – MadeinVilnius.lt

Vilnius City Municipality informs that Trakų Street in the Old Town will be reconstructed soon. It is planned to replace the surface of this street, its parameters – width, sidewalks – would change slightly. On May 8, residents of the Old Town are invited to an informational meeting, during which the aforementioned proposals will be discussed. The project and the meeting with residents are organized by ID Vilnius UAB.

Trakai Street will narrow and parking spaces will remain

The project states that the existing multi-colored granite pavement on Trakų Street would be repaired, and the main carriageway of the street would be narrowed to 3.75 meters. Pedestrian sidewalks will be widened and will be newly equipped with granite tiles. The width of pedestrian sidewalks on both sides of the street would vary from 1.76m to 3.5m.

There will be 3 “Kiss & Ride” parking spaces at the “Gudrutis” kindergarten, which are intended for children to quickly get out of the car or get in. It is planned to leave 12 parking spaces between Franziškoni and Vokiečiat streets.

Technical parameters of the project

• The address of the planned facility is Trakų St., Senamiestis;
• Trakai st. length – 300 m;
• Lane width – 3.75-6.25 m;
• The width of the pedestrian sidewalk (north side) – 1.83-3.85 m;
• The width of the pedestrian sidewalk (south side, landmark VGTU Faculty of Architecture) – 1.76-4.5m;
• Project developer/customer – Vilnius City Municipality;
• Design proposals were prepared by ID Vilnius UAB.

Public hearing

Representatives of the public can submit their proposals by e-mail until May 8 [email protected]. The public hearing of project proposals will take place on May 8, at 6:00 p.m., during a remote video broadcast, to which only registered residents of Old Town are invited. During the meeting, project developers will present their work results and project solutions. The purpose of the meeting is to inform residents about future changes and to hear their insights on the planned changes. Project schemes are still in the preparation stage. The mentioned streets will be overhauled.
