– What would you highlight when it comes to Mother’s Day? Tradition and customs? Today’s fashion and showing off the size of the bouquet or gift?

– When you asked, I remembered Vilias Kalvaitis’s book “Lithuanian Names Bank” published in 1910. He collected various folkloric material, many examples of small folklore, and dedicated one section to the addresses we use to call our mother. , grandma, grandma, mommy, mommy, etc. – I counted a total of 99 addresses with such gentle suffixes.

These are names that have long been reserved for the dearest person, the mother who holds the keys to all three of the sheds. In our traditions, respect and love for mother was expressed and expressed every day and no special day was required. Mother’s Day arose when the old, traditional family, where children, parents and grandparents lived together, broke down, and when parents were addressed with respect every day. And it started to fall apart before the war, when the children went to the city to study and work, settled there and rarely came home to visit their parents. Then it took Mother’s Day to remind me to visit my mother in the village.

We are fast in Europe. And with all that comes alienation. There was no spiritual connection left. Not only in the community, when the elastic village ties are broken, but also in families. That’s why we started doing such demonstration holidays. Everyone says so emphatically: oh, we’re going to mommy’s. And after all, you should go there more often, without waiting for the designated day. And you should behave more warmly every day – so that the relationship with your mother and relatives is always warm.

If we want our country to be strong, that strengthening must start with the family.

– However, today, when there is more and more talk about gender-neutral partnerships and the like, there is a debate about what is a family?

– When I hear that nonsense, on the one hand, I want to laugh, on the other hand, my blood boils. When apparently smart people start debating what a family is. All those tricks, all kinds of definitions of “gender” – the whole society is led into that nonsense. It is led by a minority that undermines us on purpose in order to receive funding both from our state and from foreign funds. And after all, the essence of all this is the molestation of children.

– We say “mother earth”, and we often attribute motherly, protective actions to the state, when it has to take care of the well-being of its citizens. Can a state that belittles the Lithuanian language and the importance of Lithuanian identity, that is, does not take care of the Nation’s home, properly take care of its citizens?

– This path leads us to the fact that we will become a corner of the European Union. All these immigrants from Bangladesh, Africans who climb over the fence, do not stay in Lithuania – our country is a province even for them. So where are we rolling?

Let’s look at the economy, how much we borrow money, and we don’t create anything ourselves. And there is nothing to compare with pre-war Lithuania, which was constantly able to survive from the land using simple methods, not only to survive, but also to accumulate gold reserves. A poor state rose to the top, which did not even have a free Lithuania for 30 years. What about us now? We only increased the debt enormously. Obviously, the people in power do not care about the future of Lithuania.

Now there is a caste of officials who pass on that desire for power to their children, eventually managing to pass on the rule as well, so this path leads us to a very sad future. And such a provincial poor state. Because the most capable people will run away from it, as they have done until now. It is a pity that I will have to leave such a Lithuania to my children and grandchildren. 30 years ago, I had very “pink dreams”. After each Seimas election, those colors faded more and more.

– More than one election is approaching. Still expecting something?

– The worst thing is that I already have a reluctance to go to the elections. This happened for the first time in 30 years, until now I have not missed a single election. Now I don’t know if I will go. Maybe I’ll force myself. The fact that more and more people do not want to go to the polls is a sad sign. This means that every change of government is more and more disappointing.

I would like to leave my grandchildren and great-grandchildren not the hope of emigrating, but the hope of finding their happiness here. It seems to me that all our parents wished us that. Some may have looked more narrowly – that only the family would be better, others – that it would be better for the nation, the state. But this is already a broader approach, which, by the way, must be developed by the school.

But we can all see what she is cultivating now. And one by one the ministers are multiplied. For me, as an educator, what is happening in education is incomprehensible. Frankly speaking, no matter which field you choose – there are huge problems everywhere, because the leading positions are occupied by people who should not be sitting in those chairs. This is the big problem of Lithuania – we don’t know how to choose people who could make a breakthrough.

If we remember the first Seimas, people came there who wanted to create Lithuania, and now they come with completely different interests.
