On the weekend in the port city – celebrations and discussions

This weekend, various events will take place in the port city – firefighters will invite rescuers to celebrate their professional holiday – St. Florian’s Day, and the opening of the season for motorcyclists and bikers. Klaipėda citizens will also have the opportunity to listen to the discussions of art researchers and practitioners at the Klaipėda Cultural Communication Center (KKCC).

All events will take place on Saturday. The firefighter’s professional celebration will start at 11 a.m. in Theater Square. and will last until 3 p.m. The organizers announced that for the first time St. On St. Florian’s Day, all Lithuanian firefighters and rescuers will meet in Klaipėda.

“The Lithuanian firefighting community will present firefighting and rescue techniques and equipment, tell you how to protect yourself from fire, and teach you how to use fire extinguishers. When you come to the event, you will have a unique opportunity to hear the history of the Klaipėda fire station, professionals will share their experience in rescuing victims in collapses, Ugnius the beaver will share good mood, real chimney sweeps will tell you everything about safe burning”, the organizers informed.

It is announced that around 700 motorcycles will come together to celebrate the start of the new season.

Firefighters will also share information about emergency preparedness and how to prepare a so-called departure bag.

The start of the motorcycle parade through the streets of the port city is at 3 p.m. The motorcade will start from Vasara stage in Herkaus Manto st. towards, then you will pass Naujojo Uosto St., Pilies St., Minijos St., and Smiltelės St. and Taikos Ave. turn left at the intersection and onto Taikos pr., Herkaus Manto st. and Liepoja st. will return to the venue at the Summer stage.

In addition to the motorcycle exhibition, the summer stage will host elections for the biggest, smallest, oldest, and most famous motorcycle, as well as entertainment for children and many other activities.

And KKKC (Didižiji Vandens st. 2) on Saturday at 11 a.m. there will be a conversation between Klaipėda researchers Prof. Dr. Aldis Gedutis, dr. Lutauras Kraniauskas, architect Mantas Daukšis and participants of the symposium of ideas: art doctors, researchers and artists about urban studies.

According to KKKC director and symposium initiator Liudas Andrikis, the purpose of this event is to stimulate the interest of art researchers and practitioners, doctors and doctoral students in Klaipėda and the processes taking place here, to cooperate with organizations, creators and communities operating in the city.
