A long-awaited reconstruction was completed near the White Bridge some time ago. During it, Konstitucijos Ave. was renovated. crossing, access to the new “Artery” business center, sidewalks, stairs, etc. The latter fell on the Vilnius people. The installed ramp was too steep for people with disabilities and parents with strollers.

“Are you kidding me? How will mothers with prams get off such a ramp? Is this a bicycle-only ramp?” – Vilnius residents ask rhetorically on social networks.

There is a debate about why the stairs needed to be repaired, if the current ramp is not suitable for people with special needs and strollers.

The municipality answered this question of the residents. According to her, parents with strollers and residents with special needs have another way of landing. Their movement should be ensured by a special elevator, which should be sought in the new business center.

“During the repair of the stairs, the former geometry of the stairs was restored, the coverings were replaced. It is planned to ensure the movement of people with mobility disabilities and parents with baby carriages through the “Artery” building and the elevators in the underground passage”, says Gabrielius Grubinskas, Media Relations Specialist of the Vilnius City Municipality.
