The municipal council of Alytus district approved the employment increase in 2024. a program that will help reduce the unemployment rate in the area, and help jobseekers to integrate into the labor market faster.
The following measures are planned for the implementation of the employment increase program: temporary jobs, partial wage subsidy (60%) for employers who have employed the unemployed of the Alytus district municipality, case management services and reimbursement of travel expenses to and from work from the municipal budget funds for the employed unemployed.
Measures for the unemployed
18 unemployed people of Alytus district will have the opportunity to get a job according to the measures provided for in the program. It is expected that 3 persons who have worked in temporary jobs will be employed for fixed-term or permanent work. It is also planned to provide case management services to 90 persons.
Fifteen employed unemployed people will be given the opportunity to benefit from compensation for travel expenses to and from work. About 15 former unemployed people will be able to take advantage of this.
EUR 32,810.40 is expected to be allocated to the measure of temporary works for the management of the public infrastructure of the Alytus district municipality and the provision of social services. Temporary works will be implemented in the municipal administration and the municipal company “Simno komunalininkas”. It is planned to employ 13 persons for an average of 3 months. for duration.
8,202.60 EUR is estimated for the measure of partial wage subsidy, it is planned to employ about 5 people for 3 months. for duration. Employers wishing to implement this measure are selected by the Employer Selection Commission established by order of the director of the municipal administration. The maximum duration of temporary work of participants of the program measures cannot exceed 6 months.
The program also includes case management services
Also in 2024 it is planned to implement Case management services: psychologist-motivator services, accompanying support, self-help consultations, computer literacy, self-presentation training services, legal consultations and other services according to the needs of the participants. It is planned to provide the necessary long-term, comprehensive social assistance to persons who are unable to work due to numerous health disorders and bad habits and to provide an opportunity to integrate into the labor market by applying the provision of health services necessary for employment (treatment of addiction diseases).

The employed unemployed of the Alytus district municipality will be reimbursed for travel expenses to and from work (planned 10,000 EUR) from the municipal budget according to the procedure established.
To implement these measures, the municipality received a special targeted grant of EUR 94,113.00 from the state budget. EUR 10,000.00 of municipal budget funds have been allocated from the municipal budget.
