The matches of the second round of the Lithuanian Men’s Water Polo Championship ended in the pool of the Alytus Sports and Recreation Center. Six teams fought to get to the third final round of the championship. According to the regulations of the championship, the three teams with the most points in the first and second rounds of the championship enter the final stage.
According to the results of the two rounds, after each team played ten matches, the teams lined up as follows:
- Kaunas Swimming School;
- “Delphin” of Vilnius;
- Alytus “Dzūkijas vandenis”-ASRC;
- Klaipėda “Baltija”; 5.
- “Vilnius II”;
- Riga Sharks.
During both rounds, goalkeepers Adas Dapkūnas and Justas Cibulskas, players: Justas Rimašauskas (14 goals), Matas Platūkis (12), Lukas Baliulevičius (6), Matas Grinius (2), Laurynas Šickus, Darius Džiugas (3), Donatas Benoris stood out among the Alytis team. (6) and Kasparas Remeika (2).
The basis of the “Dzūkijos vandenis”-ASRC team is made up of athletes raised in the city of Alytus, who are currently studying or working in Alytus or in other cities of the country and find an opportunity to devote time to their favorite sport and represent their hometown. The team is trained by coaches Tomas Vainikonis and Igoris Martinovičius
On May 24-26, the final round will take place in Alytus, where the first three teams mentioned above will be joined by Elektrėnai “Žaibo” water polo players, who reached the final four without competition, as the winners of last year’s Lithuanian water polo championship. “Zaibas” is a professional team formed on the basis of the Lithuanian national team and representing the country in international tournaments of various ranks.
