The Ministry of Health Protection will award meritorious Lithuanian doctors

During the ceremony to be held in the House of Lords, awards will be presented to dozens of Lithuanian doctors, nurses and health care workers.

“This year, eight dozen medical and health care workers of the country will be awarded for their merits and achievements. It is encouraging that there are health workers dedicated to their work and profession all over Lithuania – from the country’s largest clinics to Zanavyki. This is a clear proof that attention to patients and their needs is a value and this value is firmly adhered to,” Health Protection Minister Arūnas Dulkys was quoted as saying in the ministry’s statement.

According to the Ministry of Health, the title of meritorious doctor is given in appreciation of long-term and impeccable work, for sacrifice and courage in saving people’s lives, an important contribution to the development of health care, promotion of a healthy lifestyle, the pharmaceutical industry, increasing the prestige of Lithuania as a healthy country, popularizing the name, the young generation of medical specialists education, training of highly qualified health care specialists.

Also, for the implementation of innovative, sustainable management solutions in health care institutions, fostering and development of cross-border relations, effectively contributing to Euro-Atlantic integration, providing humanitarian aid to war refugees from Ukraine.

At this year’s ceremony, A. Dulkys will also give thanks for his leadership in the establishment of the health center, for the creation of the national emergency medical assistance (EMS) service and the unified EMS standards.
implementation and transfer of exemplary primary care and health management ideas throughout Lithuania.

The awards will also honor the employees of the Lithuanian health care system and wellness specialists who have contributed to the aid to the struggling Ukraine, as well as the winners of the public thanksgiving project “Thank you to the doctors”.

Awards of meritorious Lithuanian doctors have been held since 2004, a total of 348 doctors, 110 nurses and 398 healthcare workers have already been awarded.

Lithuanian Medical Workers’ Day is celebrated on April 27.
