On May 9a new festival is starting on the right bank of the Neris River in Vilnius – “Vilnius Spring Festival“, which has been entrusted with an impressive start, to the creators of this festival – St. For the Kristoforos Chamber Orchestra and the jazz ensemble “Vilnius JJAZZ Ensemble” assembled by Jievar Jasinskis! At the opening concert, in a still unusual place for concerts – the National Art Gallery, symphonic jazz compositions specially created for this festival will thunder!

“Vilnius JJAZZ Ensemble” together with St. The Christopher Chamber Orchestra will perform a new, exclusive program on May 9. Two Vilnius musical collectives dive into compositional searches, during which the chamber orchestra and big band will present listeners with a never-before-heard sound. “Cooperation with St. Christopher’s Chamber Orchestra is a unique opportunity to create an innovative symphonic/jazz sound while writing music for big band and string orchestra. The sound of the string orchestra will not only enrich the scores of jazz works, but also provide new colors and sound possibilities when experiencing the sound of symphonic jazz”, – say the members of Vilnius JJAZZ Ensemble.

The composers of “Vilnius JJAZZ Ensemble” are known for their experimentalism and determination to go beyond the usual boundaries of jazz in their work. During the concert, which promises to be a true feast of sound, the audience will have a unique opportunity to hear how the big band and the expressiveness of the string orchestra are combined in the work of “JJAZZ” composers Jievars Jasinskis, Karolis Šarkaus, Simon Šipavičius, Apolinaris Dubauskas, Gedimin Strupinskas, Domantas Razmaus and Pranas Kentras. It is their works that will be heard in the latest “Vilnius JJAZZ Ensemble” and St. in the program of the Christopher Chamber Orchestra.

“I’m sure we can expect extraordinary energy on stage. Both teams support each other intensely and look forward to a meeting that seems like it should have happened a long time ago. This is already a great joy, this mutual desire to play together. St. The Christopher Chamber Orchestra is really important to me, both because of the skill of the performers and because of their sincerity and love for music. We often see orchestra musicians in the audience of our concerts, we feel a great support and warmth from them, which we greatly appreciate. We believe that such a connection gives the music a magical element, and a special premiere awaits, the first of its kind. Will! I listen to the works of my colleagues and I am very inspired and uplifted. I am glad that even seven ensemble composers are composing music for this show! We are very much looking forward to joint rehearsals, which will undoubtedly be inspiring not only in terms of productivity, but also in terms of musical sensations”, says composer Jievaras Jasinskis.

“The new and exclusive festival “Vilnius Spring Festival” will bring together the brightest collectives and performers of the young generation of the city of Vilnius. The jazz ensemble gathered by Jievars Jasinskis will present new compositions, enriched by St. The sound of the string group of the Christopher Chamber Orchestra. And this concert will be special not only because of the impressive introduction to the festival, but also because it is dedicated to a noble mission – Europe Day, we will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the EU and NATO”, says St. Modests Barkauskas, conductor of the Christopher Chamber Orchestra.
