April 15 The joint-stock company Lithuanian Airports announced that it is looking for partners to help organize an international architectural competition for the new arrival terminal T5 of Vilnius Airport, which is planned to be built by 2027.

The establishment of a new railway station under the Vilnius airport was also indicated. It is said that by the 2030s, it is intended to build an underground station of the European railway “Rail Baltica” under the Vilnius airport.

According to the submitted project “Rail Baltica” railway line Kaunas-Vilnius engineering infrastructure development plan, it is expected that the European gauge will also be installed between Kaunas and Vilnius railway stations. In addition, it is planned to reconstruct the existing railway section from the Vilnius railway station to the airport.

The plan calls for the rail track to reverse at the airport, go underground at the Park Inn, and run underground all the way to the airport. A new underground railway station would be built under the site, which is located by the stairs of the old terminal.
