It was because of Bučkis that some such troubles arose. The British already love and raise dogs and other pets, but usually such British people have their own houses or farms. For the Vencks, in order to rent an apartment, it turned out that no one wants tenants with a pet. I had to lie, hide Buchkis when the owners came… It lasted for three years. Fortunately, Auksė and Aurelijs found well-paid jobs and maybe even bought their own house in a small town near Oxford, purely because of Buchkis.

Little Bean

Auksė was always interested in the activities of “Telšiai uodegėlė” and followed the news on the website. Always sincerely sympathized with people’s homeless dogs and cats. So, after buying her own house, she decided to share her happiness. The men of the family did not object.

He called “Telšiai Uodegelė” and asked to take the puppy that had not found a home for the longest time.

“She sent us a photo of Pupytes and asked many times if we would really be able to take care of her, because the dog is traumatized, shy, apparently she has suffered a lot of abuse, and she is sitting curled up in a corner. I don’t know what happened, I and our whole family fell in love with her at first sight. We brought Pupa back to England, and after staying with us for five days, Pupa escaped from the garden (there is no fence, but the yard is surrounded by a hedge). We contacted search groups, posted ads, horse riders, dog walkers were all looking for Pupa. Everyone wrote us messages where they saw Pupa, but the little dog was shy and didn’t let people in. Every day before and after work, the whole family looked for Pupa, and she kept in the nearby fields. After seven long days, the man went out again in the rain with our puppy Bučki to look for Pupa and what do you think – she was standing on our street. The man released our pet for Pupa to recognize and she followed him home. We cried with happiness that he finally came back. Broken, with a few ticks, but still…”

From then on, the little girl did not try to run again. According to Auksė, Aurelius was a little indifferent to dogs, but when Pupa appeared, he would pet her on his way to work, telling her quietly that he would not let anyone hurt her.

True love conquers all

It took a long time for Pupa to “thaw”. It took some years. According to Auksė, she was afraid of everything. He usually hid his cage, he was even afraid to eat food. She was fed in bed, she had to be turned away and there was complete silence. Maybe after half a year she dared to go into the kitchen and see what Auksė was doing there. Terribly afraid of fireworks and any male creature encountered on the street. Walking down the street, if she saw a man, she would run immediately. You had to calm her down, pet her, praise her, tell her how wonderful she is, and after a while she would finally calmly pass by people.

A few years later, a huge event happened, because when Pupa went outside, she ran without a leash, she didn’t run anywhere and was very happy… Since then, according to Auksė, everything was great – when her owners came home from work, she was happy, smiling like a dog and full of happiness . A little dog who has experienced many abuses has learned to enjoy life. Encouraged by the success with Pupa, the Vencks took a cat, Kiwi, from “Telšiai uodegėlė”. His eye was gouged out by bad people and he was left with one eye. According to Auksė, “that eye of his is the most beautiful in the world.”

What did little Pupa learn?

She lived in the Gold family for about four and a half years. During that time, the family grew – another brother joined the trio.

“One day our Pupytė got sick. As if nothing out of the ordinary – he began to urinate more often. After going to the vet, they examined him – they say everything is fine. We agreed to do a urine test. After taking the sample, the vet said that it is the weekend and he has a lot of emergency cases, he will examine it when he can. But on Sunday night, Pupa got very worse, in the morning I agreed with the vet on duty to bring our little one, but after putting her in the car, I couldn’t take Pupytė away… It was inhumanly difficult. The vets said they found traces of blood in the urine, and it was definitely something serious for Pupa. You live and learn… I decided to cremate Pupytė and we took the box, which is now at home. In England it is normal to cremate pets. I often think that Pupa was my husband and I’s kindred spirit, a teacher, like a flower of the most amazing beauty, which only spread and spread from our attention. Pupa lived a real happy dog’s life in our house. He dared, showed us what he really is, taught us patience, to be happy with small things and to pursue a goal. And most importantly, they taught me to love pets and to understand what their true and sincere love is,” says Auksė.

Life goes on

After the death of Pupa, Taja came to the house in England from “Telšiai uodegėlė”, and later baby Archis, who turned out to be not so small when he grew up. Well, it was he who made me think. Although the house has five rooms, the yard around it is small for a larger dog. And anyway, keeping a home in England is quite expensive. So Venckai bought a spacious country house near Ylakii and intends to return to Žemaitijon in the near future. Maybe even this summer. The eldest son Rigobert is about to graduate from the university and become an economics teacher – he already works as a teacher’s assistant – he earns enough to support himself and two cats, also taken from “Telšiai uodegelė”.

Twin brothers Faust and Orest are graduating from high school this year and have decided to become policemen. Tall, broad-shouldered – just what a police academy needs. In total, Auksė has already taken ten wards for herself and her family friends from “Telšiai uodegėlė” and all of them have good homes. The youngest member of the family, Harold, who was the only one born in the United Kingdom and has legal citizenship of this country, will live with his parents in Žemaitija.

The Vencks are planning to clean up the homestead and are already digging in their minds for their pet Artis, who clearly has labrador blood because he cannot live without water. In addition, Aurelius will set up several aviaries, so that if necessary, he can give care to some trouble and have fun and share his joy with weaker and disadvantaged animals.

According to Auksė, some friends say that they are crazy about those animals, “So what – Auksė counters the taunts. – It means that we are happy crazy people – and that is probably the most important thing” .
